I received my order and was very surprised to see just how durable the product feels and how easy it was to install. The longest part of the install was gathering my tools and unscrewing the screws that hold the access panel in place ... I like it ...
Had to file down plastic to fit flush on tailgate. If you want something that looks locked it's ok. Shame Toyota never made a locking tail gate lock for 2001 Tacoma. Too expensive for what you receive.

I purchased the Pop & Lock for my trucks tailgate since I have to leave valuable equipment in it quite often. It works GREAT! A friend of mine tried to open my tailgate to put an item in the bed of my truck (I forgot to tell him it was locked), he struggled with it thinking there was something wrong with the handle, until he realized it was locked. Needless to say he will be a new customer as soon as he gets his truck. GREAT PRODUCT, at a Great price.
As we know, older Tacoma don't have tailgate locks.
The Pop lock solves that problem.
It's well engineered and fits very well with the factory handle. It's made of plastic, so if some one really wants to open the tailgate this might not stop them. But for the grab and go type, it should do the trick.

I had bought a camper shell for my 2004 Tacoma, and I needed a way to lock the tail gate. Pop & lock was an excellent and affordable product that was very easy to install and did exactly what it was supposed to
Simple installation, locks easily, but would appreciate it feeling more secure. However, I suspect that has more to do with the construction of my tailgate internal mechanism than the pop lock. Nice product.
This item was super easy to install. Must have been designed by a mechanic. Fit was outstanding and the color match to my 15 year old tailgate handle was right on.
The pop and lock tail gate lock was super easy to install and took like 10 minutes put on and I now have the peace of mind that my vehicle is secure as well as the contents.
The lock works really well. It was easy to install myself and is an effective deterrent to jeep my tailgate and the items in the back of my truck safer. Glad I bought it!

It works but you could easily rip the whole thing out with one hand. I wouldn’t recommend for use in cities or neighborhoods where theft is an issue.

My tailgate lock continues to function without issue and has done a good job discouraging folks with light fingers. Good value for this item. I highly recommend this product and this Company.
