Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack

The Yakima FullBack lets you carry up to 3 bicycles on your vehicle's trunk or hatch. The rack has adjustable arms that provide safe, level transport of your bikes. The arms feature SuperCush anti-sway cradles with ratcheting ZipStrip straps for easy bike loading and unloading. It installs with 4 cam-buckle straps and an interlocking HUB with vehicle-specific settings. It includes locks to secure bikes to the rack and the rack to your trunk, and it folds flat for compact storage in your trunk or garage.

SuperCush Anti-Sway Cradles with Ratcheting ZipStrip Straps

FullBack SuperCush Anti-Sway Cradles

The rack has premium SuperCush anti-sway cradles that help to prevent bike-to-bike contact during transport. And the integrated TPE padding absorbs road shock and vibration to protect your bike frames.

Ratcheting ZipStrip Staps

The cradles also include ratcheting ZipStrip straps that make loading and unloading your bikes a breeze. Simply insert the strap into the buckles on the cradle and push it down until it's snug around your bike frame. The ZipStrips can be removed quickly by pressing the release levers on the sides of each anti-sway cradle.

Folding Dual Arms

FullBack Folding Dual Arms

The FullBack's dual arms provide excellent stability for your bikes. Integrated dials on each side of the rack let you adjust the arms to ensure your bikes are level during transport and to help improve ground clearance.

FullBack Folded Dual Arms

These dials also allow you to quickly fold the arms down when you're not carrying any bikes. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage. And it enables you to store the rack compactly in your trunk or garage.

4-Strap Installation with Interlocking HUB

Interlocking HUB

The FullBack installs quickly and easily on your trunk or hatch with an interlocking HUB and 4 cam-buckle straps. The interlocking HUB includes a dial with vehicle-specific installation settings. Simply turn the dial to the number specified for your vehicle and place the rack on your trunk or hatch. Information on obtaining your specific setting can be found in the rack's installation instructions.

FullBack Installation Straps

Four strap hooks attach the rack to your trunk. The hooks are labeled to make setup a breeze and to ensure the rack is properly anchored. Additionally, the hooks are designed to work with glass hatches without adapters.

FullBack Cam-Buckle Strap

To secure the rack, simply attach the 4 hooks and pull the straps tight through the integrated cam buckles.

FullBack Excess Strap Retrainer

Rubber retainers are included so you can bundle excess strap length to keep it from flapping against your trunk.

Complete Security

2017 Acura MDX

Performed perfectly on a 140 mile round-trip in my 2017 Acura MDX. It took me a few tries to position the anchors inside the top of the hatch, but I got the hang of it and the rack did not shift at all while driving 50-60 mph on the highway.

2015 Hyundai Sonata

After searching for a bike rack for my 2015 Hyundai Sonata, I settled on the Yakima Fullback 3. I initially wanted a roof rack so I could carry my bikes and kayaks, but my options with the panoramic sunroof were limited and expensive. Part of the Sonata trunk lid is plastic so I was very hesitant to use a trunk mounted rack. It seemed that most Sonata owners were using a trunk mount rack, so I placed my order on a Sunday evening. etrailer shipped it the next day and I received the rack on Thursday.

It took about 10 minutes to unpack, read the instructions and install it. I put both my mtb and road bike on and went for a test ride. The rack was more stable than the hitch mounted rack I had on my old vehicle, and the best part was it didn't scratch my paint. It keeps the bike pedals far away from my bumper, and it was one of only a few racks that would clear my factory spoiler. It folds up and I can stick it in my trunk while I ride.

The only reason for the 4 stars is that the rack is fairly heavy. It would be nice if Yakima could find a way to lighten it up while keeping the rigidity and price where it is now. Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied with the rack and the service from etrailer.

You mentioned a concern about scratching-Its very important that you keep the portion of the rack and the surfaces of the vehicle that touch extremely clean. Any dirt or grit that gets caught in between the rack and vehicle can scratch the paint. A few good coats of quality car wax applied to the trunk lid and top of the bumper cover can provide additional protection as well.

Excellent quality! Bike rack comes fully assembled. Cam locks hold the upper support and the bike arms in position and are very easy to use.fairly useless included cable lock. Will only work if you always carry 3 bikes. I just used my cable lock and had no problems transporting my bike to the trails.

Delivery was fast! The box was torn but likely that was in transit due to the weight of the package. It's a gift for my sweetie, so I'll post again when it's been set up and used. I'm sure it'll be perfect!

2017 Honda civic Sedan Touring trunk lid damaged by this rack. I follow the instruction and I don't think I overloaded the bike rack as I only had one adult mountain bike (GT Agressor) and 18-inch kid bike with Yakima tube top adaptor with it. I am very unsatisfied with this purchase. Will not buy this type of rack again

2017 Hyundai Tucson

This rack was one of the very few that I could find that was verified to fit my 2017 Hyundai Tucson. Great service from etrailer, ordered on a Tuesday morning, got an email later that evening saying that it had shipped, and received it on Thursday! Very sturdy and solid and holds bikes steady. Easy to set up. I like their ratcheting clamp system for holding the bikes to the rack. Much quicker than tightening a bunch of straps. Purchased the optional glass anchors to use on the bottom as the Yakima fit guide said the bottom hooks had to be used in the anchor mode and I didn't like the way they looked against the interior plastic panels of the hatch.
Two negatives, the reason for only 4 stars; the cable to lock the bikes to the rack will only reach the third bike. This was not very clear in the product description. If you carry less than that, it won't reach the bike in the middle position. Yakima offers an optional longer cable and they should include it to begin with, some people won't always carry three bikes all the time. I positioned the rack as indicated by the fit guide and the rack blocks the top center stop light, but the other lights can be seen OK through the spokes of the bikes.
This rack was a little more expensive than some I looked at, but you get what you pay for, and I think this rack will serve my needs well.

2016 Hyundai Tucson

Review of the Yakima Fullback 3 bike rack.

Wanted a trunk mounted, non-hitch rack for a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Internet search led to the etrailer.com website. The website showed trunk mounted, non hitch options for a 2016 Tucson. Although at most 2 bikes would be carried at any one time in my situation, I am 6’ 5” and have an extra bike frame and larger diameter wheels. Selected the Fullback versus the Halfback thinking it might be a bit stronger (90 pound versus 60 pound capacity) even though my bike is light. Also the Fullback includes security locks.

The videos showing installation, removal, on road stability and user tips are excellent, thorough and informative. Watched them a few times before ordering.

Shipment arrived quickly.

Actual installation experience did not have suprises. Two configuration steps ...determining appropriate hub setting for a particular vehicle (“5” for a 2016 Tucson) was easily found on the website and the possible requirement to convert the lower attachments to anchor configuration (needed for some vehicles such as the Tucson) was indicated on the website and the how to steps were shown on the video. Good idea to watch the video a few times to become familiar with the process before opening the box. The included paper instructions were clear and understandable.

The pass through security cable does not thread though the top of the Tucson top hinge area. Rather, let it be captured on a side of the tailgate as it closes. Purchased a few Velcro straps to hold excess length straps rather than using the provided rubber bands. Minor issues.

The unit is solid, well built and holds a bike steady on the highway. Recommended product.

2011 Volvo XC60

I have a difficult car fit for a rear bike rack. etrailer is where I found the only option. The Yakima instructions were horrible, but I figured it out. That said, etrailer is great - I loved seeing who handled my order, quick delivery, great communication. I had to return one thing, and that was a breeze too. I highly recommend etrailer.com.

by:

Very much liked the ease of getting the rack set up and also loading and taking down the bicycles. Unfortunately, the placement of the Outer/Lower support frame is an issue. Has caused dents in the car. These are the instructions provided on your website for a 2017 Mazda CX-5. "Outer/Lower support frame rests on the lower portion of the license plate, below the numbers".

I am really enjoying this bike rack. It was easy to setup and an awesome upgrade from my 20 year old bike rack.

by:
2018 Volvo XC60

We initially purchased this rack to transport 3 adult road bikes ~1,100 miles on the back of a 2018 Volvo XC60 T8.

Pros: This is much more substantial/solid than an older Yakima rack I own. It securely held the 3 bikes in place with minimal bounce or sway. The installation instructions are clear and you go online to get the specific rack settings for your vehicle.

Cons:
- The distance between the bike cradles is a relatively narrow 3".
- The rack itself is heavy (30 lbs shipping weight) making the install a 2-person job.
- For my vehicle, you install the rack using what they call "anchor mode". Instead of attaching hooks to the outside of the car and tightening straps to secure, the hooks go inside the car, you thread the straps through the top and bottom of the tailgate, and then close the tailgate. The hooks aren't "hooked" onto anything but rather are "trapped" inside. You then reconnect straps to the rack and tighten the straps while you support the rack in place. While this is secure, holding the heavy rack in place while reconnecting straps requires 2 people. Further, once attached, you CANNOT OPEN THE TAILGATE until you are ready to take the bikes AND the rack off. So if you want to put the rack on and leave it on without opening/closing the tailgate, this will work fine (we left the rack on the entire trip and got stuff out of the rear area by dropping the second row seats). But give this some consideration if (a) you're single and don't have easy access to an assistant; (b) your car requires anchor mode (you can check online first); and (c) you want easy access to the trunk/tailgate.

One year out, my original review still applies. I note that there is some dulling on the paint of my car where the pads from the rack hit but that’s not surprising with a load of 3 full size bikes. You can avoid this with a hitch mount...

Excellent product had no clue how to install it made one phone call five minutes later installed on car can't say enough about customer service

by:

A mistake in design. Yakima and Thule were the only 2 options I had to fit my car, so I went with the Yakima based on price and the fact that it had an integrated locking feature, which is now the reason I'm not entirely happy with the bike rack. The cable for locking the bikes only works when you have 3 bikes mounted, but not when you have 1 or 2 bikes. So if you're carrying only 1 bike you can't lock your bike because the cable is not long enough to extend to the bike that's closest to the car (which is where the bike is supposed to be placed). In my opinion, this is a big design miss from the manufacturer and should've been called out in the specifications. For this reason, I'm giving it 3 stars.

Hello I would like to update my review my review of the Yakima fullback 3 bike rack. I originally rated it 1 star due to the instruction manual containing 2 links that are no longer available to look up the instructions to set it up for each of our cars. I emailed etrailer.com and Steven C.s reply to my email with a link to a web page where I was able to look up the proper instructions for mounting it on either car. This is the second time I ordered from Etrailer.com and there customer service saved the day. I would now rate the rack 4 to 5 stars but that is because of the the help from etrailer.coms customer service. Providing the information needed to mount it on either car. Thank You Steven C for your help!!!

2016 Toyota Camry

I've used the carrier 3 times now for local travel (around 40 miles round trip) and am happy with the purchase. Really like the zip strips that keep the bike securely attached with minimal movement. Also like how solid the bike carrier is; it feels premium for sure. For dislikes, it's hard to mount the carrier so it doesn't rest on the plastic bumper of my 2016 Toyota Camry. When it's mounted, it's resting securely on the trunk but once weighted down, it does put some pressure on the bumper and reveals small dimples on the bumper when removed (hardly noticeable but there). Also make sure to review the manual and online site with your cars respective settings. Do not rely on etrailer's videos or even those from Yakima. For my car, both sites show using the top hooks but the online fit settings clearly show to use the them in "anchor" mode. Oddly, Yakima's YouTube video even showed the user/installer scrolling through the online websites vehicle specific settings on her cell phone; I paused the video and it says anchor mode. Would buy again.

The Yakima Y02633 worked incredibly well for 3 bikes
- Worked extremely well with 2016 Lincoln MKX (Lincoln version of Ford Edge)
- Very sturdy and handled the turns very well

The bike rack arrived as advertised and works like a charm. This retailer went above and beyond with their communications. Given the current state of back orders, they were incredibly responsive with all updates and any questions I had. Would definitely recommend and they’ll be my first choice when I’m in the market again.

by:

The bike carrier arrive a little late because it was out of stock. It is well built and there is plenty of information on the internet as to how to install. You also get photo as to how it will fit on your particular vehicle. Overall at this point a good experience with etrailer and Yakima.

  • Recommended Trunk Mounted Bike Rack For a 2022 Subaru Forester
I recommend the Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack # Y02633 for your 2022 Subaru Forester. This rack can support up to 3 bikes up to 90lbs total weight. Each bike can also not weigh over 35lbs each. The rack uses 4 straps to secure to your Forester and the Interlocking Hub allows for faster installation and removal when needed. Anti-sway cradles and with ratcheting straps help prevent bike to bike contact while you are driving. An integrated lock and cable system ensure your bikes stay secure...

  • Does Trunk Bike Rack Need to Removed To Access Cargo Area of 2019 Volvo XC60
Both things you mentioned are true. You do have to put the upper straps of the Yakima Fullback # Y02633 in anchor mode to attach to the rear door of your 2019 Volvo XC60 and you will have to remove the rack any time you need to access the rear cargo area which is standard with any trunk rack. It's too dangerous to have the weight of the rack on the rear door when you attempt to open it as it might slam shut, plus the hinges aren't rated for the extra weight either.

All of the trailer hitches for the 2012 Volkswagen New Beetle, turbo, are Class I trailer hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. To use a 2 inch accessory like your bike rack, you would have to use a 1-1/4 to 2 inch adapter, # HTAD. The use of an adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. So the reduced capacity would be 75 pounds for hitch # C11354. A bike rack's rubber straps can be tough to manipulate, but they are made that way for a reason. Also, as long as the strap has a snug grip on the bike, it is not necessary to over-tighten the strap around the bike's frame. The 2018 model year is a redesign and they are still in the development stages. Unfortunately, I don't have any insider information when one will be available either. However, if you were wanting a trailer hitch so you can carry a bike rack then we do still have options. If your bike(s) is not heavier than 35 lbs then you can use a trunk...

  • Best Trunk Mount Bike Rack for a 2020 Subaru Forester
The best trunk mounted bike rack we offer for carrying 2 bikes with your 2020 Subaru Forester is the Yakima Fullback 3 bike rack part # Y02633 as it is the easiest to install and load bikes on, is light weight, and only option that comes with locks for the bikes to the rack and for the rack to the vehicle. This is a 3 bike rack but with hanging bike racks it's much easier to fit 2 bikes on a 3 bike rack due to the extra length on the arms.

  • Is the Thule Passage a Fit for the 2021 Toyota RAV4
I have a possible solution for you. First, though, the Thule Passage, part # TH911XT, is not a fit for the 2021 Toyota RAV4. In fact, these aren't fits for any RAV4. Instead, I recommend using the Yakima FullBack, part # Y02633. This is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and can hold 3 bikes just like the Passage you referenced. It has anti-sway cradles and TPE padding. I've linked to a video review of the FullBack below.

  • What Trunk Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 2020 Acura RDX?
I have a great trunk bike rack choice for you! However, all Thule OutWay models like the platform style # TH65JV or the adjustable arms style # TH45JV do not fit your 2020 Acura RDX. With that being said, the Yakima FullBack 2 # Y02634 and FullBack 3 # Y02633 definitely fit your vehicle. The FullBack comes with 4 cam-buckle straps with hooks that easily secure to your trunk. As far as weight capacity, it offers 35 pounds per bike. The anti-sway cradles are a nice touch that add sturdiness...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a Neuron 5 Mountain Bike
For your Neuron 5 mountain bike, I recommend the Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack item # Y02633 you were looking at. This bike rack has a 35 lbs capacity per bike which is just higher than the 33 lbs your Neuron 5 weighs. You don't have to transport three bikes to use this rack but if you do the rack has a total weight capacity of 90 lbs. I really like the FullBack because it uses soft SuperCush anti-sway cradles with ratcheting ZipStrips to hold the bikes at different points. This creates...

  • Best Trunk Mounted 3 Bike Rack for 2019 Ford Edge with Factory Spoiler
I have a solution for you, but the I checked with Malone and the Hanger 3 Bike Rack # MPG2139 is not a fit for your 2019 Ford Edge with the factory spoiler. Take a look at the Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack # Y02633, instead. This is going to be a great 3-bike rack option that has been tested and confirmed to fit over your factory spoiler. You'll just want to make sure that in order to avoid damage to your rear wiper, it must not be used when the carrier is installed. In order to safely...

  • Using Yakima FullBack 3-Bike Rack For 2005 Honda Pilot
The HalfBack has been discontinued so you wouldn't be able to purchase that form us to use on your 2005 Honda Pilot. But what you can use is the Yakima FullBack 3 Bike Rack # Y02633. This does require the rack to be used in anchor mode, which I verified with the rack's manufacturer for you.

  • 3-Bike Trunk Rack Recommendation for 2017 Ford Edge Titanium
The best 3-bike trunk rack we offer for your 2017 Ford Edge is the Yakima Fullback 3 # Y02633. This rack uses a much wider mounting pad to distribute the weight of the bike and racks evenly and as long as you keep the bike rack mounting pad and the paint surface clean you won't have any damage. Also you need to stay under the weight capacity of this rack which is 35 lbs per bike. If you plan on carrying any kidsd or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes like you mentioned...
