This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
The tire on this assembly has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.
This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the tread on these Castle Rock radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Castle Rock tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.
Castle Rock radials are constructed with double steel belts and double nylon cords. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Castle Rock ST23580R16 load range E radial trailer tire with this 16-inch Black Eagle aluminum wheel with an 8 on 6.5 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly is going to be great for your RVs, your campers, and trailers. This special trailer tire, or ST tire has sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads. It is created specifically for trailers and not intended for use on other vehicles. As you know, radial ply tires are great for highway use and this radial tire is constructed with double steel belts and double nylon plys, giving you increased durability.
The nylon tread firming belt overlays help prevent tread separation, and the tread wear indicator makes it easy to see tread depth. The siping on the tire tread channels water away from the tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. So as I mentioned at the beginning of our time together, and as we have stamped here on our tire, this is an ST23580R16, and the section width of this tire is 9.25 inches and the outer diameter is 30.78 inches. This is a load range E tire, meaning it has a 10-ply rating. The maximum load is 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI.
And this has a speed rating of L, indicating a maximum speed of 75 miles per hour. Now, this aluminum wheel is durable, lightweight, and rustproof. It features this really nice Eagle Series 8-spoke split design in matte black. It has an automotive grade clear coat finish here on the front that protect the wheel from scuffs and scratches. And these steel inserts that are pressed into the lug nut wells are going to help keep the wheel securely in place on the trailer hub, preventing the holes from wearing down and eliminating the need for the constant re tightening of the lug nuts.
Now, the dimensions of our wheel, measuring bead seat to bead seat is 16 inches in diameter. The width of the wheel is seven inches and the bolt pattern is 8 on 6.5 inches. And in case you don't know, the first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes, and then the second number is the diameter in inches of the circle on which the bolt holes sit. So to determine the bolt circle diameter on wheels with an even number of bolt holes as we have here, you're simply going to measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the other bolt hole directly across from it. The wheel capacity is 4,080 pounds.
The wheel stud size is 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 of an inch by 18. The center cap is sold separately. But if you pick one up, you just wanna make sure that it fits the pilot diameter of 4.9 inches. Now, this tire and wheel assembly does meet the Department of Transportation specifications. The tire meets the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard specifications, and the wheel meets SAE J1204 standards. One final note, this tire and wheel assembly does come with complimentary roadside assistance for two years. So if your RV or trailer has a flat tire, simply call their helpline and a technician will come and change the flat for you. You can call that line 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere here in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico. Well, I think that's going to wrap up our brief look today. I do hope that our time together has been helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
