This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
The tire on this assembly has a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way that's not covered by warranty, it will be replaced at no charge. You will also be compensated a flat labor rate for the cost of mounting the replacement tire.
This aluminum wheel comes with steel inserts in the lug nut wells. The inserts are pressed into the aluminum, and they help prevent the holes from wearing down over time. This ensures that the wheel stays secured to your trailer hub and that you won't have to constantly retorque the lug nuts.
Unlike standard trailer tire tread, which has solid, continuous ribs, the tread on these Castle Rock radials has ribs with breaks. These breaks allow water to run off to the sides. The Castle Rock tread also has sipes. Siping is a process in which thin grooves (or sipes) are cut into the rubber of the tire. The grooves channel water away from the tread so that the tire makes better contact with the road. Both of these features greatly improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.
Castle Rock radials are constructed with double steel belts and double nylon cords. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.
Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Castle Rock ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range D, and it's mounted on this 15 inch Osprey Aluminum Wheel with the 6 on 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. The wheel, it's an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rust proof. And it is the Osprey series, which is a split six-spoke design, you can see, with the black finish.
And on the face of the spokes and on the outer lip, you can see it has a machine finish to it. They do use an automotive-grade clear coat finish on the front to protect the wheels from scuffs and scratches. One of the nice features I like on this wheel is if you look inside the lug nut wells, they put in steel inserts there, and that's designed to help keep your wheels securely in place on the trailer hub when you tighten down your lug nuts, prevents those holes from elongating and wearing down, and eliminates the need for constant retightening of your lug nuts. Now the wheel itself, the diameter is 15 inches. The width on just the wheel is six inches wide.
The bolt pattern on this wheel is a 6 on 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern, and it does use a wheel lug size of 1/2 inch by 20. Weight capacity on this wheel is 2,830 pounds. Now, if you notice, this wheel does not come with a center cap. We do sell those separately, if you want one. You do wanna get one that will have the same diameter as this pilot hole right here.
The pilot hole diameter is 4.25 inches, so you wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have that same diameter. Now the tire itself, it's a Castle Rock Radial Tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon plies. They do use a nylon tread-firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. And it is a radial ply tire, so it does great for highway use.
If you look at the tread and you look on the tread blocks, you'll notice they have these cuts in it. They call that sipes. Those sipings on the tire tread channels that'll channel water away from the tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. The tire is an ST Tire. It stands for Special Trailer Tire. Has this sturdy sidewall so that it can handle heavy loads. And it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles. Now the size, and it's stamped on the sidewall right here, ST, for Special Trailer, 225/75R15. The R means it's a radial tire. (coughs) The section width on this tire, 8.8 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top is 28.3. And this is a Load Range D, which means it's an eight-ply rated tire. So the maximum load on it is 2,540 pounds at 65 PSI. The speed rating, which is stamped on the sidewall, and that's usually designated by a letter designation. And where that is on this tire, it's right down here by the Load Range. There'll be two numbers for the load index and then after those numbers is a letter L. Speed rating L would be 75 mile per hour speed rating. Now this assembly does meet the DOT specifications, and they do offer complimentary roadside assistance for two years. They give you flat tire service, available 24/7 anywhere in the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico. But that should do it for the review on the Castle Rock ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range D on this 15 inch Osprey Aluminum Wheel.
