Today on our 2015 Toyota Corolla, we're going to be installing the Curt custom fit trailer hitch receiver. This is a class one inch and a quarter hitch. It's part number is CU12665. Here's what the hitch looks like once we get it installed. As you can see, it follows along nicely with the contours of the car. It's a round tube so it's not like one of those big square looking ones that hang out there and they look kind of odd.

This one follows along with the car nicely. It's a good looking hitch. Something about this is that installation is super easy. You put two bolts on the drivers side, two bolts on the passenger side and you're done. There's existing weld nuts there already. You're just going to thread it in.

We don't have to remove anything. We don't have to alter anything so it's a really nice easy to do at home kind of a thing. One thing I like about this one as opposed to some of the other class ones for the Carolla, going to be the cower that comes around here. Makes it look a little nice, look a little sturdier. But it's also going to allow for the hitch mobilizer that will go around there and mobilize just about any product that you want to put in there. Really works great for ball mounts, bike racks, things like that. Speaking of ball mounts and towing with this, we're going to have a 200 pound towing weight rating so not a great deal towing capacity.

2000 pound gross trailer weight capacity. Again, it's on the lower side but of course, you're going to want to check the Corolla's owners manual. We need to figure out what this car is rated for and what it could handle and go off of whatever those numbers are the lowest. You're going to have a half inch hitch pin hole here. This is going to work great with any of the class one accessories, whether it's an anti-rattle bolt, lock what have you. Safety chain connection points are in each side.

It's kind of a nice flange style bracket. Looks a little heavier duty. Looks a little nicer than the standard round circles that come out of the side so just a few of the small differences in the hitch here. Overall a really nice, clean looking hitch and a great addition to your Corolla. A few measurements that are going to be helpful in selecting your ball mounts or maybe bike rack will be from the ground to the inside top edge of the receiver tube opening. We've got about ten and three quarters of an inch. From the center of our hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of our bumper, it's about three. For the installation, this couldn't be an easier process. We're going to have two weld nuts here on the passenger side. One there and one there. What we're going to do is take a little spray lubricant, put some of that up into our holes there and we're going to clean these out. This is a nylon tube brush. It's part number is 814092. If you don't have one, it's a good idea to pick it up. Just going to clean all the debris out of those weld nuts. That way our bolts will start in there easily without any kind of issue. You can see we've got an M12 bolt here that's going to go in both of our hole locations on each side and then a comical tooth washer. Those teeth should face up towards our hitch. The passenger side here is good. Let's go on to the drivers side and do the same thing. With those all cleared out, let's grab our hitch and we can raise it right up in to position. What we're going to do is place the bolt right through our hitch. Let's get that started first. All right, we get some good turns on there, that's going to hold the hitch in to position on this side. Then we can come on over to the driver's side here. With those two started, let's start the other two. One here on the drivers side, one here on the passenger side. Now we'll take a quick look to be sure we have our hitch centered on our vehicle and we can snug our bolts down. Now we use our torque wrench and torque those down to the specifications that you'll find listed in your instructions. With all of our fasteners torqued to specification, that's going to complete today's installation of the Curt custom fit class one trailer hitch receiver part number C11265 on our 2015 Toyota Corolla. .
