SumoSprings helper springs are great for pickup trucks. Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the truck's weight. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.
The innovative 2-piece design of these Rebel springs allows for unlimited suspension travel. This means that there will be more movement in your suspension when you're unloaded or off-roading, which makes your ride smoother and more comfortable.
Each spring has 2 pieces. One piece attaches to the frame of your vehicle. And the other piece attaches to the axle, typically above your existing factory leaf spring. The pieces come together to provide support when you are towing or hauling a heavy load. When you're unloaded, they separate so that they don't restrict the movement of your suspension. The closed-cell urethane springs also act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.
SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.
The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.
These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).
SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts, and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.
This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

5,000-lb Capacity. These maintenance-free microcellular urethane springs upgrade your vehicle's rear suspension. Each 2-piece spring connects at top and bottom and provides unlimited suspension travel and movement for a smooth, comfortable ride.Bought these for my 3/4 ton. Oh my god, roughest ride . Removed these springs and replaced with air bags.
I installed these this afternoon. The install was relatively easy but had to deal with e-brake line guides that had to be modified. The springs have very little gap between top and bottom (close to zero). Unlike the reviews I read before purchasing, the unloaded ride quality was extremely uncomfortable. I'll check with etrailer tomorrow for possible remedies (1" lift block on rear end to create gap?) If the unloaded ride can't be fixed I will try for a return and buy air springs. Stay tuned, the rating can only go up.
Everything came in a timely manner and was as advertised. No issues with the order or product.

Outstanding!
They fit fine and installed as described in the printed instructions. Reasonably easy overall, even for a novice like me. My only comment is that the video that was included showed a different set up than what was delivered. That made me unsure if I had the proper system for my truck, which indeed I did, but the difference between what was shown in the video that was "for my truck" and what was in the box had me wondering. Never-the-less, all was correct and went well.

Product is excellent. The springs really reduced the squat I used to have in my truck when I hooked up my fifth wheel camper. Actual reduction in squat was around a 2 inch change. This also keeps the nose of the truck from rising in response to the rear sag I used to have, which makes the overall handling of the total rig a bit better as well. Also, the ride, while connected, is noticeably smoother and feels more stable while driving in stout crosswinds, which we frequently enjoy, here in Oklahoma.
Springs performed exactly as described. The professional staff described how to measure the truck with and without 5th Wheel load and sent the springs I needed. Since installation the level has maintained and steering and ride improved. Etrailer staff got me exactly what I needed.
Installation was quick and easy. the instructional videos were the deciding factor to purchase this product. after installation everything was just as claimed. adding a 2300 load in the bed of the truck cause very little squat and actually lowered the front about an equal amount (1" in the back and 1/4" in front). since 60-70% of the trucks braking is from the front wheels this was import to me. options were airbags, adding additional leaf springs or this option. I was cautioned that when your vehicle is service with airbags installed putting the truck on a lift for oil change for example you might tear the airbag. this option on a lift the two sections just separate and go back together when lowered. I was happily surprised by the side to side stabilization removing the need for additional suspension additions.
ask me again after a year
Received SumoSprings and installed them on Chevy HD2500 Duramax that same afternoon. Took about 1-1/2 hrs. and instruction was straight-forward. Watch etrailer [install video] first...it will save you some time. Will test out ride this weekend while pulling 5th wheel RV.
yes i liked the SumoSprings bether than the air springs i had on my last truck
I don`t write review`s but I`ll tell you these thing`s are very good, never need air so there`s no leak`s so if the Border Patrol uses them it`s good enough for me ...
Worth every penny. Improved ride and ha ndling.
Excellent quality and just what we wanted. Thanks again etrailer!!
Great service. Easy install.
Front and rear Sumo Springs installed. Have not had a chance to hit the highway as yet. Locally a very good ride. Thanks to Joanne K. for all of her help.
I put a small leveling kit in my 2500hd Silverado. I noticed afterwards towing my excavator or dump trailer I was getting some rear sag when I had my trailers loaded heavy. I considered doing air bags for the rear. Instead I installed the sumo springs. I installed them in about an hour. Very happy with them. No noticeable difference in ride quality while empty. And they keep my truck level when I’m hauling my trailers. 5 stars!
I have a 28-foot-long class A motorhome on a Ford F53 Chassis. The handling of the vehicle at any speed above 50 mph is terrible. The vehicle wanders all over; very difficult to keep the vehicle between the lane marker lines. The SumoSprings, installed front and rear, did not solve this problem. Money would have been better spent elsewhere!

The instructions state that e-brake lines and other possible cables may have to be rerouted and pinned up by zipties. These springs do not have a gap when on the ground. Item # SSR-203-40-2 would be good for recreational towing jobs. The springs you purchased are higher rated and would be used for constant work applications. The higher rated springs are stiffer and will have a rougher ride than the recreational lower rated springs.
