Video Transcript for Thule SportRack Square Crossbar Roof Rack Review TH26CC

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline. And today we'll be taking a look at our SportRack Semi-Custom fit roof rack for your raised rails right here at etrailer. There's two crossbar options. One's gonna be with a 47 inch long crossbars. The other is with the 53 inch long crossbars. If you have raised rails on your car, you might be looking for a way to carry on those fun accessories like kayaks, roof boxes, roof baskets, or roof mountain bike racks.

What you first need is a roof rack system. So this is a very easy to install roof rack system at an entry level price. So if you're not planning on going out for long, long road trips, you just need something that you can throw on, just like that. That's where this will come in handy. The main difference between this and our other affordable roof rack systems is this is faster to put onto your roof but also that this is made of steel.

So you have stronger bars. The downside though is it's going to be a square bar. So some of our entry level roof rack systems such as the Malone AirFlow2 or the Curt roof rack are more aerodynamic. This will have a little bit of extra wind drag and wind noise, but once you have your accessories on there it won't make that much of a difference. Now this does not include locks.

So you do get a plastic lock core and you can use a flathead screwdriver or even a quarter in order to engage that lock core. And now you can open up the door and get access to your tower. You do have an included Allen key or hex wrench that you can use to loosen or tighten down the towers. Now, I'm very impressed because even though this is an entry level roof rack, the towers are very nicely made. So you have the rubber padding that goes around the rail and creates that almost custom fit.

Plus that rubber padding is secured to the tower. I've seen some towers from other brands where the rubber padding pops off and you have to put it back in. You don't have that issue with this one. I have my roof rack set for carrying around the roof box. So I already know where to install it but for installing it the first time here's how you take those measurements. So for your raised rails you have the option of picking your crossbar strip. So I measure on one side, it says 25. Measure on the other side, it says 25, but you can pick and choose depending on your accessories, your roof box, your roof baskets. Sometimes they require a certain specific crossbar spread. Just set it to that. Now for overhanging, that's going to be measured from the outside of the power to the endcap. And if it measures at the same for each side then your bars are even. Once you have your towers in your crossbars, you also have these endcaps. Now, the way I do it is I put the endcaps on the crossbars and then I may have to use something hard to push it all the way in, and that's how I know it's secure. While this kit includes everything you need to use your roof rack. There's some other tools that I recommend just to make your life a bit easier. One is gonna be the Moki Door Step. I clip this into the door and that's how I get that extra height and traction as I strap things down, speaking of straps we also have etrailer Cam Buckle Straps for whatever cargo you are carrying. And don't forget to take a look at those metal lock course to upgrade your towers and keep them more secure. So my personal thoughts about the SportRack Roof Rack for raised rails, and as I like the speed of putting this on as well as how easy it is to store. I do wish that they we're more aerodynamic bars, but on the other side I also like the sturdiness of this bar compared to some of the other more affordable options. Even though they're square bars, they're also made of steel, so they have a really good weight capacity. Plus once you have cargo and accessories on there, the wind drag, wind noise difference won't be that big of a difference compared to the more aerodynamic options. And that was a look at our SportRack Semi-Custom fit roof rack for your raised rails here at etrailer. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey..
