Video Transcript for TorkLift Propane Tank Fortress GasLock Kit Review

Randy: Hey guys. Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at a new product from Torque Lift. It's the Fortress gas lot. This is going to give us an excellent solution that we really haven't had in the past. This allows us to lock two propane tanks down to the front of our camper or RV, and prevent them from being removed.

Now, not only does it secure our tanks as you can see, but also our regulator, and also our hoses. So we're not going to have to worry about all of those pieces disappearing causing us a very expensive replacement. Whether you've got the half inch, or three eighths inch threaded rod, we're going to have a solution for you. It's going to have a heavy powder coat finish on it, and it is lightweight. It's made out of military grade aluminum.

So we're not going to really have to worry about any corrosion, or any issues like that. Also, going to have our lock right here. Nice heavy duty lock. Pull that off and see we've got our cap open there. That'll allow us to slide our key in there, lock and unlock that, and then back this off if we want to get our tanks off to take them and have them filled or whatever we might need to do. Now to install our Fortress lock, we'll need to remove the old style wing nut.

Just going to loosen that up and set it aside. Then we can bring our Fortress lock right down and over. I'm going to position this tab rearward. Since our regulator is right here, I want to have enough room for my lock. Now we'll take that stainless washer.

We want to place that down on. Then we can get that threaded down and on. Now, we're going attention this just like we would our normal keeper here. We just need to ensure either this tab or this tab lines up with the tab on that lower section, so we can get our lock through. So right there looks good. Then we can place the lock through. We have the option of placing it either way we want. I do recommend though that we put this rubber spacer on the top side. We can put our lock on this way. But as that goes down the road, that'll kind of keep it from rattling. We won't hear that metal noise as it bounces up and down. We just put our cap on. But at that point, everything's going to be nice and secure and we won't have to worry about anybody getting away with our tanks. That's going to complete our look at the Fortress gas lock from Torque Lift.

Happy with the purchase, even one year later. My tanks are secure. This is easy to use and gives me peace of mine. The materials are strong, well made construction.

by:

a solid solution for locking your propane tanks. Be sure to get the correct one, as there are different size threads on the rod, and different mounting options. The eTrailer website doesn't do a good job on explaining this. I ordered the Airstream model, only to find out that there are two thread sizes that Airstream uses, and this site does not explain this very well. I had to contact TorkLift to get the right size (and it wasn't the 3/8" version that comes up when you click on the Airstream option). I give the lock 5 stars, and 3 stars to eTrailer for not understanding this product.

by:

Easy to install, easy to use. the Fortress Gaslock adds an effective deterrent to those wannting to help themselves to your propane tanks.

by:

Fit, finish, and quality, excellent.

Great customer service and knowledgeable on the products they sell.

by:

Very easy to use and perfect for what it is intended for. Came earlier than expected and good quality. Just make sure you measure correctly not like me, and order the correct size. etrailer customer service was great on helping me return the wrong size and ordering the right one.

Thanks

Excellent design! Easy installation on 2019 Airstream Globetrotter 27FBT. Now my LPG tanks are secure.

by:

I ordered 4 Mighty Cords and a TorkLift gas bottle lock for my Airstream. The cords were nice and recommended by the AS forum. I rodered the wrong TorkLift for my AS. I needed the 1/2" lock assembly but ordered the 3/8" by mistake. etrailer responded and sent me the correct TorkLift and a return merchandise mailing label! Thanks! Nice people to do business with. Here is the TorkLift installed on my AS.

by:

Might be good on some trailers but it did not work on my Grand Design. See photo. Could not get it pushed down far enough to put padlock on before the end potecting the nuts jamed against the upright threaded stock.

by:

Timely delivery. Easy installation.
One
note: Raising the regulator caused interference with slam latch. Had to bend bracket as shown in photo. Otherwise good product.

by:

I like knowing my tanks are locked-down. Access to the top of my tanks is not adequate for locking to be easy, but I can manage with this setup.

by:

The lock was easy to install and secures the dual propane tanks nicely.

by:

Very happy with this lock for my propane tanks. Very durable and attractive

by:

A good product took some work to install, had to figure out where to put the regulator bracket.

by:

Works great! Ive owned it one year now and no corrosion issues. As long as somebody can't undo the gas rod from the bottom, then the lock is secure against theft. It would be very cool if this product had a model that used a 4-digit combo lock instead of a key (I often misplace my key, but started keeping the key inside the Airstream

by:

This lock is incredibly easy to install. It keeps the tanks secure, and, of course, locks them tightly in place. The only thing that surprised me is that this appears to be a different design than pictured. The handles are bent upward as in the Airstream lock picture....even though the packaging says it's the TLA7702, not the Airstream variety. Regardless, this thing looks, feels, and works great!

by:

I had been looking for a quality propane tank locks fan this one is exactly as described. The lock is robust and allows you to lock two propane tanks and a regulator with the lock and built in key.

by:

Exactly what I needed! I needed something to keep my propane tanks "mine" while in storage and etrailer.com was the first place I looked - reasonably priced and quick delivery.

by:

The product works like it's supposed to. I feel better knowing that I have a good lock on my propane tanks for when I'm camping or just keeping it stored at home! I ordered the wrong size, had to send it back and ordered the correct size. I spoke with Rebecca and she was great! She took my order over the phone and sent me the UPS label right away! The customer service is really great! I've received my refund for the first order. I would definitely do business with this company again!!!

by:

Fit perfectly bit lock has to be installed lock side down for Airstream tank cover to close.

by:

Looks like this propane lock will do the job. I am a little worried that the lock will not be strong enough but I figure that most wrong doers will not want to put forth the effort to try and remove the lock. I am very happy with this purchase.

by:

Excellent product. After someone cut my bike cable type security and took a full 30 pound propane tank off of my trailer in 2014 I had to find a better way to secure my tanks. After some searching this propane tank lock was the answer. eTrailer has the best price I could find on it. Purchasing was easy and shipping was fast. Thanks eTrailer.

by:

We had fallen victim to thieves that thought they needed our propane tanks more than we did. So after replacing our tanks, I found this lock setup. This will not stop every thief because it can be cut if they had the time, but it curbs the quick grab. I also like that this lock adds another layer of protection to keep the hold down from loosening up during travel. After having this lock for 1 year already, i still like it and would buy it again.

by:

I was told this item was for airstream prior to ordering. I called and was advise this would fit. I recieved this and it was too small. The person who andweted the phone never said there were 2 sizes for airstream. So Im sending it back and am being charged shipping to do so when it was clearly an error wth info provided. Heading to trusty [another site] to complete my purchase

  • Torklift Fortress GasLock Kit Comparing Airstream Kit To Regular
The TorkLift Fortress GasLock Kit for Propane Tanks with 3/8" Threaded Rod # TLA7701 is different from the TorkLift Fortress GasLock Kit for Propane Tanks with 3/8" Threaded Rod on Airstream Trailers # TLA7771 in that the bracket that sits on the bar is different for the Airstream. The Torklift Fortress for Airstream trailers only has an L-shape instead of a bridge shape. Other than that bracket the systems are almost identical and function the same.

  • Propane Tank Lock for Airstream Flying Cloud Travel Trailer
If your Airstream has the dual tank setup with the hold down that uses 3/8 inch threaded rod, you'll want to use the # TLA7771 lock. For a 1/2 inch threaded rod, use # TLA7770. I've provided a diagram showing how the lock goes together and fits on the rod of the tank hold down. If the hold down is aftermarket, and wasn't manufactured by Airstream, use part # BA62VR. I've linked to demonstration videos for the products mentioned above.
