Video Transcript for DeeZee Round Nerf Bars Installation - 2015 GMC Canyon

Today on our 2015 GMC Canyon, we are going to review and install the DZ Tube Steps, Part Number DZ372043. With our tube step installed, really makes it nice and easy to get in and out off our truck. Our round chrome tube step adds a really nice finishing touch to our vehicle. For each door, we are going to have a black plastic molded step with built in tread so it will give us a nice firm grip as we are getting in and out of the vehicle. The hardware and brackets that come with our install kit are steel brackets with a fully welded construction. They have got really nice black powder coated finish that will resist rust and corrosion. Now to begin our install, we need to identify our front attachment points here on the inner rocker panel. Starting from the front wheel well back, we are going to be using the two small pre-drilled holes as our attachment points.

To get our hardware into the rocker panel, we are going to remove the two plugs next to each attachment point. Just using a flat blade screwdriver, we can remove the plugs and set them aside. Each attachment point is going to get a clip nut. The clip nut will secure it to the rocker panel and then add the nut on the inside of the rocker panel for securing our hardware. We'll simply slide the clip nut into the large hole and over the small one. This will then allow us to put the front bracket in place over the attachment points.

Here in the body lip are two bolts. They come from the outside through into a weld nut. To make it easier to pull this trim back, I recommend to remove one of the manufacturer's fasteners. Using a T15 torch bit, we can remove the manufacturer's screw holding a portion of the plastic trim. Now you can see we have a little more flexibility with that plastic trim. Now let's go ahead and remove the two manufacturer bolts.

Now with manufacturer's bolts out of the way, the support bracket will then slide and line up with the manufacturer's attachment points. To secure the support bracket, we are going to use the new 6 millimeter bolt and flat washer that will go through the bracket, then into the manufacturer's well nut. Now it's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you pull back on the plastic piece while we slide our support bracket and hardware and put them in place. Now once we have the two fasteners installed, we are going to go ahead and tighten them down. Now with our hardware installed and tightened down, we go ahead re-install the manufacturer's screw to hold the plastic trim. We are now ready to go ahead and put the front bracket in place.

We will use the new 8 millimeter bolt and split lock washer, along with a flat washer to go through the bracket and into the clip nut. Now as we put the front bracket in place, we'll make sure it is in front of the support bracket. Keep in mind when we install the front bracket, we will just install it finger tight at this time. Next we will move to the center bracket attachment points. These will also be pre-drilled holes in the rocker panel. Just like the forward bracket, we will remove the plugs. The hardware here for the center bracket is going to be the same as our forward bracket. Two clip nuts. We have our bolt, split lock washer, a flat washer going through the bracket and into the clip nut. We will just install our hardware finger tight. We will now move to our third bracket attachment point or rear bracket attachment point. That is going to be the set of holes that is at the end of the rocker panel right in front of the rear wheel. Once again, we will go ahead and remove the rubber plugs that cover up the larger holes so we can put our clip nuts in place. We will then go ahead and bring in the bracket and hardware. We are now ready to go ahead and put our tube step in place. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the tube step while you install the fasteners. Now to the secure the forward and rear bracket, we are going to use a 1/2 inch bolt, split lock washer and flat washer. We'll go through our brackets and directly into the tube step. Once again, we are just going to install our fasteners finger tight this time. Here at the center bracket, we are going to use the 8 millimeter bolt and split lock washer, flat washer and go directly into the weld nut in the tube step. As you can see, we have two attachment points. Now with all our hardware installed, we are ready to go ahead and tighten it down. We will tighten down the bracket hardware and then the tube step hardware. Just like that, our tube step is installed. We are ready to repeat the same process over on the driver's side. That will complete our review and install of the DZ Tube Steps, Part Number DZ372043 on our 2015 GMC Canyon. .

Very easy to put on. You do need a extra pair of hands to hold the bar up when doing the back part. But after a year of owning then I must say I still like them very much. They still look good.
