Video Transcript for WeatherTech Rear Mud Flaps Installation - 2015 Ram 3500

Hi there, 3500 owners. Today on our 2015 Ram 3500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install WeatherTech's Rear Mud Flaps. With these mud flaps installed, all the dirt and debris that was going to be flung off of your tire onto the back of your vehicle and onto anything that you are hauling behind you, whether it be a trailer or a cargo carrier loaded up, it's going to get trapped and caught by this protecting your paint and all of your equipment. And it's not only going to help protect your equipment, but drivers on the road next to you are going to appreciate it as well. The durable thermoplastic resin is custom molded to the contours of your vehicle. This gives it a more secure installation using the factory hardware. And the thermoplastic, it's going to allow it to flex, so if you we're to have any impact with road debris, it can just flex and go back to its retained shape without causing any damage to it.It's an easy no drill installation that secures in place using your factory hardware.

Some mud flaps may come with some additional clips, just help further secure it. The mud flaps will come as a pair, so you'll receive one for both your passenger and driver's side. And what I really like about them, especially after getting them installed here, is how good they look on it. They look like their factory mud flaps, they blend in really well, and it gives it a little bit more aggressive look that shows off how hard your truck works for you. We'll begin our install on our inner fender well just behind the rear tire. We're going to go ahead and start on the driver's side.

Before installing your mud flap, you'll want to make sure you've got the areas that are really clean. So you can go ahead and wash your car, we're just going to be using some soap and water to clean the area. And this is just going to make sure that none of this dirt and debris that is going to be stuck in between the mud flap and the body isn't going to cause any damage to the paint over time. So by getting all that dirt and debris out of there, it's going to keep everything in good condition. Also included in your kit, you're going to receive a package with some protective film that you can place on before putting your mud flaps on. You'll want to use a little bit of soapy water to make it easier to slide the protective film around.

We'll then peel that off, and this protective film is just going to go down here at the bottom, and it's just going to go up just like that. And we're just trying to cover up the paint where our mud flap is going to be contacting the body. We'll then do the same thing on the other side. You'll want to make sure you let it dry before installing your mud flap. If you see any air bubbles in it, you can use a sponge or squeegee to get those air bubbles out. We'll then remove the two bolts located towards the bottom on the outside of our fender well.

We're going to use an eight millimeter socket to remove those. We can then slide our mud flap in place, lining up the holes with our mud flap with the holes where our bolts we're that we just removed. We'll then just simply reinstall the bolts. Before you tighten them all the way down, you want to make sure you push up slightly on the bottom of the mud flap, just to make sure that all the contours of our mud flap will match up with the contours of our truck's body. Just going to give a little bit of a push up there to hold it in place, and then finish snugging them down.Once both bolts are tightened, take the clips that come in your kit and these are going to hold the inside of our mud flap to the inside of our fender liner here. So we're going to just go ahead, take the clip and we're going to kind of give it a little slight push upward, and we're just going to push that clip on. We're going to put one clip towards the top of our mud flap here, and then we're going to put a second clip evenly spaced down towards the bottom. We can then repeat this same process on the opposite side. And that completes our installation of WeatherTech's Rear Mud Flaps on your 2015 Ram 3500.

Overall pretty good, but not as thick or heavy duty as what came on the truck. “No drill” is a good idea I guess, but the cheap tiny clips need to be upsized in my opinion! Too important to have the bare minimum fasteners! Not etrailer’s fault of course, Weathertwch is cutting corners…not worth the savings of a few cents!

I am very disappointed with the Weather Tech mudflaps, not because it took forever for them to be delivered (though it did -I was not told by e-trailer that they weren't in stock the day I ordered them), but by the fact when they were finally delivered, they were missing instructions (front mudflaps) and parts (rear mudflap was missing the center screw to the lock; the lock was found loose in the bag. I had to go to home depot to try and find the errant screw - i was not about to send them back and wait some more).
I have a lot of weather tech products on all 4 of our cars as well as full front and rear mats in the truck, and have never had a problem like this before. Both irritating, disappointing and requiring an additional cost of money and time to rectify).
The etrailer packing was excellent, and once i collected all the necessary parts / instructions and figured out how to re-assemble the loose lock, the installation proceeded in an orderly manner though taking longer than anticipated based upon the etrailer video. The quality of the actual flaps looks to be excellent and they look good on the truck. If there had been some visible quality control initially upon opening the packages, I would have given them 5 stars. Unfortunately that is not how it played out.

Super easy to install and it took about half an hour. Look good after a year and are still solid. Id buy them again.

Did not fit well on the 2022 Dodge Ram 3500. The rear flaps did not quite fit the OEM fender flares on the vehicle. Too tight - not enough clearance to sit nicely against the flares. There was also no hole for the trim fastener so had to drill a 1/4" hole for little plastic fastener - not a big deal. Hoping the front ones fit better, but they were worse. Same story - the "digital fit" flaps did not fit the OEM fender flares. Tried a heat gun to hopefully warm the flap and maybe get them to fit together better, but couldn't quite get it. I'll need to get some longer fasteners, otherwise one bolt and the little plastic tab are all thats holding it on. Maybe if the weather warms a bit...? Def not as advertised.

by:

Just like the description says...easy install, no drill, digital fit. Looks like they came with the truck. Highly recommend.

by:

Mud flaps were easy to install and fit great on my 2023 Tundra Hybrid Max

by:

Look great! Look OEM. Wish all the hardware was black. And in the front the two screws you pull out both sides, trash go get something a little longer and more girth. etrailer was great the arrived earlier then expected.

by:

Well designed and fit just right. Look great and seem to be made from durable material. Installation was straight forward and easy.

by:

Fantastic product. Very easy installation. High quality. Very fast delivery! Etrailer is the best as always!

by:

holes did not line up with pre existing holes on car
for installation. Very hard
to install. will NOT buy weathertec again

by:

These mud flaps are great! Good Instructions and install went quickly. They look really good and should perform well, protecting the rocker panels and the side steps from mud and stones. Very pricey but good quality. Front Pair.

by:

This is a good investment. First, etrailer is a great place to get what you need for supplies! The weathertech mud flaps are a great addition to a raised F-250 with larger tires that pulls. This will provide the rest of the protection I need as well as cut down on debris that the tires throw up at other cars/trucks. Very easy to install and if I want to remove them then I have all the pieces necessary except for the push grommets which I can get anywhere. I think I will leave them on for a while....not bad looking either.

by:

For someone who is "old school" and reluctant to install plastic onto a machine, I'm impressed with the ease of installation and durability so far. I've put about 7500 miles on them without an issue. And thanks to Etrailer for carrying great products and providing great info to consumers. You folks have a great Business model!

by:

Delivered timely and installed easily. Great product.

by:

Took a little effort to get it to match up with the plastic wheel well fender flares but once I did I have not had any issues. Looks somewhat subtle but is pretty effective at stopping thrown debris onto the paint.

by:

I was apprehensive about buying these as the weather tech company said they would not fit. My vehicle has power running boards and 22” wheels..I researched forums and took a chance. They fit…no problem. See attached photos and video.
Thanks
