Secure Wraparound Jaw with Locking Bar

Wraparound Jaw

The single-piece, strong wraparound jaw completely surrounds your trailer's king pin for 360 degrees of contact. This wraparound jaw provides a more secure connection than standard 2-piece jaws that close in on the king pin from the sides. The increased jaw-to-king-pin contact on the UMS hitch offers tighter tolerances around the king pin, which minimizes both rattle and chucking, for a smooth, quiet ride.


A 3/4" thick solid steel locking bar spans the area in front of the jaw. This bar provides an added barrier of protection against accidental disconnection so you can have peace of mind that your trailer is secure. The locking bar is attached to the jaw and to the spring-loaded handle. The bar automatically locks when the jaw closes around your king pin


Double-Pivot, Cushioned Hitch Head

Double Pivoting Head

The double pivoting, cushioned head improves your towing experience dramatically by helping to reduce jarring and unwanted noise. Built-in pins allow the hitch head to pivot back and forth and side to side. And hookup is easy because the hitch head will automatically pivot to the proper angle when it comes into contact with your pin box.


Dampeners

Three polyurethane dampeners help to cushion the movement from the pivoting head and to reduce towing noise. Two of these dampeners are built into the head assembly to cushion the head's side-to-side pivoting. The third dampener cushions the back-and-forth motion and must be installed in the hitch prior to use. Installation of this third dampener is easy - simply press the dampener up into the pre-drilled hole underneath the hitch head.


Easy Installation and Simple Removal for Full Bed Access

This UMS Double Pivot hitch is specially designed to fit in the underbed rails of your Ford Super Duty factory fifth-wheel towing prep package. To assemble the hitch, all you have to do is bolt on the side plates and attach the head to the hitch base.


The side plates have 2 functions. They contain the feet that fit into your OEM tow package receivers, and they allow you to raise or lower the hitch head to better match your pin box height. After you choose your desired height setting, simply bolt the side plates to the hitch base with the included hardware. Then lower the hitch into the 4 puck receivers in your truck bed. Turn the handles to lock the feet into the pucks and secure the handles with the included safety pins. The hitch can be removed to give you full truck bed access. Simply remove the safety pins, turn the handles to unlock the feet, and lift the hitch out of the receivers.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Demco Hijacker UMS Double Pivot 5th Wheel Hitch. This 5th wheel hitch will mount into the bed of your 2016 through 2019 Chevrolet and GMC trucks with the factory installed towing prep package, and this will obviously then allow you to then tow your 5th wheel trailer with your tow vehicle. It is gonna be very easy to get installed since we're using that factory prep package, we'll just pull out the pins on all four of these feet, we'll open them up and then set them down into the four receiver pucks that are built in to the factory underbed rails. Once they're all installed, we'll just turn those to lock them in place, and we'll pass our pin through there, so it is going to allow us to take full advantage of that factory prep system, and so that we don't have to worry about above bed rails, so we're gonna have full bed access just like our truck is intended for. This does have a sturdy steel construction, so it is going to give us a gross towing weight of 31,000 pounds.

That steel construction does have a black powder coat finish on it to resist rust and corrosion. Up here at the top, you can see we've got our wraparound, single-piece jaw that's gonna provide a secure connection to our king pin, and we lock it open there, it's gonna make it very easy for us to back up, and as soon as that king pin hits that trigger plate there, it's going to wrap around, 360 degrees of contact, and so, it's gonna be less rattling, more security than your slide bar type jaws. As you can see, we also have this 3/4 inch thick, solid steel locking bar that's gonna reinforce the connection of our coupled trailer, so we're automatically gonna have that lock in place when the jaw closes. We're operating that using our spring loaded handle here with the comfortable grip that's going to allow us to very easily pull that to lock it in place, so we can back up to our trailer and get the king pin in place. Once it closes, snaps close automatically, we'll then pass this pin through the hole here and get it secured in place like so.

Then, to disconnect, reverse that process, pull out the pin, open it up, and then they do recommend passing that pin back through this hole here just in case that trigger plate we're to be activated, it's gonna keep it open for you, so you don't have to worry about pulling your trailer forward when you don't want to, and then you can easily move that pin and allow it to close back up. Our head here is our double pivot design, so it's going to pivot forward and back as well as side to side, so it's gonna make it much easier for us to get hooked up and help limit chucking. We do have cushioned polyurethane dampeners, might be kinda hard to see those, they're blue inside there. That's going to help reduce the noise and absorb road shock as we're going along. We're also gonna have four different height settings to fit different applications, so depending on where you mount this saddle bracket here, you've got several different holes to choose from, so you have a height adjustment range from 16 inches to 19 inches just by determining where to mount those bolts, so make sure that you're getting that set for your application, it's nice that they give you those options, so that we can fine tune it for different applications.
