Today we're going to take a look at the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1986-1994 Dodge Ram pick ups, the 1986-1993 Dodge Ram Charger, 1987-1994 Dodge Dakota without the factor trailer connector, and also, the 1995-2002 Dodge Ram pick up 3500 cab and chassis model. Now, this harness will provide this 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with 5-Pull, 6-Pull, and 7-Pull adapters that we do sell separately on our website. Now, this harness does connect very quickly and easily. There is no cutting or splicing the wires.

Basically, you just take these connectors, locate the connection points behind your rear bumper. They'll be one on each side. One for the passenger side. One for the driver's side and you'll plug in these connectors. Now, just to give you, the directions will even tell you, the green wire is always for the passenger side, right side. The yellow wire is for the driver's or left side, but also, what will even help you out is if you look on the connector itself, they do have it stamped passenger, right and on this one, driver, left.

That even helps you out. You just plug these in. You go behind the rear bumper. There will be a connector that these will match up to. Plug them in on each end. Then on the driver's side, you'll have this white wire with the eyelet on it.

That has to connect to a good clean ground for this whole harness to work. If there is one nearby, you can attach it. If you need to make one, they do include the grounding screw that you can drill a hole and make your own ground. Now, these connectors, what are nice about it, is the connection terminals are protected so they do help resist corrosion. It comes with all these parts. It also comes with this nice dust cover.

Basically, what you do with that, you can just attach it to your 4-way plug. It just stretches on over that. You can leave it on there, but what's nice, is when you're not plugged into a trailer, you can put this cap over it and it will protect those terminals from any damage or from the elements themselves. It comes with a couple of cable ties, to take up any slack in the wiring. The grounding screw I had mentioned earlier and it comes with this nice packet of terminal grease or dielectric grease for your electrical connections. The reason they give you that is that it is always recommended to use a small amount of this grease whenever you make all of your electrical connections, like when you plug this into the connectors on your automobile and even on the 4-way when you plug it into the trailer.
