Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins plug-in simple vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector. This product fit a 2008 to 2014 Scion xD without LED tail lights. It's going to provide a 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters. The adapters are sold separately and it comes with the dust cap for the 4-way flat connector. That way you can cover up the connection points when your plugs are not being used.

The unit's also going to feature protective connection terminals which are going to resist corrosion and last a long time. The black box is the included tail light converter. This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. This powered module connects directly to the vehicle battery to avoid overload in the vehicle's electrical system and it's going to connect directly through the wiring. Connects quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires.

Just locate your connection points in the rear cargo area. One's going to be located on the driver's side of the vehicle. The other connection point is located on the passenger side. You take your plugs, find the connection points, plug them in. These plugs are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle.

They're going to snap lock together for a nice tight secure fit, offering a really nice tight connection. Again, custom designed for your vehicle. Once you get those connected you'll need to make a ground connection. That's your white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location with the included grounding screw and then mount your converter box to an out-of-the-way location. You can do that with the provided cable ties.

Next you'll need to run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. That's your red wire right here. It has a butt connector attached to it. This gets connected to one end of the bundle of wiring. The other end of the bundle runs the vehicle battery, gets connected to one half of the fuse holder here at the butt connector. The other half of the fuse holder has a ring terminal attached to it. That gets connected to the positive post of the vehicle battery. It also comes with a 15-amp fuse. It goes directly in the fuse holder right there and it's got the cap that goes over to keep it safe and protected. Once you have that done you can secure any excess or slack in the wiring with the included cable ties. Once the installation's complete, the 4-way connector is going to be stowed in the rear of the vehicle in the trunk. Plenty of wiring here so you can pull it out the back when you need to use it, roll it up and tuck it away when you don't. It is recommended that you use a small amount of terminal grease on all your electrical connections like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4-pole connector itself. That's going to help prevent corrosion and the terminal grease packet is included with this kit. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 3 amps per circuit and for the tail lights we're looking at 6 amps per circuit.
