Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Dodge Dakota with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting or splicing required.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Today we are going to take a look at the Hopkins plug in simple vehicle wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector. This is a custom fit part that is designed to fit the 1991 to 1995 Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan, Plymouth Voyagers and Grand Voyagers, and the Chrysler Town and Country. It also fits the 2003 to 2011 Dodge Dakota and Ram Dakota without the factory trail connector, and also the 2006 to 2009 Mitsubishi Raider without the factory 7-way. In a custom fit part, I always like to recommend to go to our website and use our fit guide. Put in your year and model vehicle and it will show you if this will work for your application. This harness will provide this nice 4-way flat trailer connector for the back of your vehicle. This is to power your trailer signal lights.
This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters that we sell separately on our website. This harness does connect very quickly and easily. There is no cutting or splicing of wires. Basically you just locate your connection points, which are behind the taillights, plug in these connectors, one on each side, and then take your white wire with the eyelet on it. That's your ground wire.
Connect that to a good clean ground if there is one nearby. If you need to make your own, they do include a grounding screw to help you out. If you notice on these terminals, they do have protected connection terminals that will help resist corrosion. When you do go to install this, the green wire is always for the passenger side, and the yellow is for the driver's side. Even to help you out, so you don't even have to remember that, they put a label on the connector itself that says passenger side and on this one, driver's side. That even helps you out.
It does come with a set of instructions to help you also. It comes also with this nice dust cover for the 4-ways flat connector. Basically all you have to do is attach that to the 4-way itself. It just stretches right over there, and you can leave that on. When you're not plugged into the trailer, if you just put that cover over there, that will protect those terminals from any damage or from the elements themselves. It also comes with a couple cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring.
It comes with the grounding screw I had mentioned earlier. It comes with this packet of terminal grease or dielectric grease for your electrical connection, because when you do install this, it is usually highly recommended to use a small amount of that grease on all of your electrical connections, basically the plugs on your automobile and even the 4-way right here to help prevent any corrosion. That should do it for the review on the Hopkins plug in simple vehicle wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting or splicing required. The draw-tite hitch 75073 fit my 2003 Dodge Dakota club cab truck perfectly. No issues with the spare tire, and the wiring harness plugged in easily. I used several zip ties to keep the wiring out of the way, and fed the trailer connector under the license plate where it is easily plugged in when using the trailer. The installation really could not have gone any better.
It was returned, because the truck came new with a tow package which included a wiring harness.
Fit just like it said it would, came with easy to follow instructions for those who may not be super handy. Took me all of 7 mins to install and test. Great product!

I see that this item is made to fit the 2004 Dodge Dakota without the factory trailer connector. If you have a factory trailer connector, then this will not fit. If you could respond with confirmation of what you have, I would be more than willing to assist you.
