Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery and connect it to the positive terminal. Then insert the included fuse into the integrated fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Curt T Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4 pole, flat trailer connector. This product fits certain years and models of the Chrysler 300. To ensure that this is a fit for your vehicle, you can always use the vehicle fit guide located at etrailer.com. This unit provides a 4 way, flat connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with 5 pole, 6 pole and 7 pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately.

It comes with a dust cap for the 4 way flat connector, that way you can cover up the connection points when your plug's not being used. The black box is the included tail light converter. This ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer. The power module connects directly to the batter to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system, and it does that through the wiring. This is constructed using surface mount technology for consistent, reliable performance. What that does is, it maximized the trailer light yield and intensity, while producing minimal heat, and ensures superior operation even in rough road conditions.

This unit is designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. Locate the connection points in the rear cargo area and plug in your connectors. These are custom fit for your vehicle, so they're going to match up perfectly with the plugs on the vehicle, and they snap lock together for a nice tight, secure fit.Once you have those plugged in, you'll need to make a ground connection. That's your white wire with the ring terminal attached to it.

You want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location with the included grounding screw. Then, you can mount the converter box to a safe, out-of-the-way location. You can do that using the included cable ties, as well as the double-sided, adhesive foam tape provided in the kit. Then you'll need to connect your fuse holder. Now typically, these connect to the positive posts of the vehicle battery, but in this case what you'll do is, on the passenger side you'll need to locate the vehicle's positive battery cable on the fuse box and then remove the nut and place the T connector's power ring terminal on the stud, replace the nut, and then install the fuse in the fuse holder.

That's how it connects to the vehicle battery, again through the wiring and this connects in the fuse box on the passenger side of the vehicle, which would be at the rear.It has a ring terminal pre-attached to it. Get that connected to that positive post that we we're talking about, where the positive cables ran, in that fuse box, and then it comes with your 10 amp fuse, goes directly in the fuse holder, has a cap to go over it to keep it safe and protected. Once you have everything connected, you can secure any excess or slack in your wiring with the included cable ties. Once the install is complete, the 4 way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area, plenty of wiring here so you can extend it out the back of the vehicle when you need to use it. Roll it up and tuck it away when you don't.It is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4 pole connector itself. That grease is sold separately and it's available at etrailer.com. It's designed specifically to prevent corrosion to the connection points. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 3 amps per circuit, and for the tail lights we're looking at 6 amps per circuit. The unit also comes with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through the whole process, step by step. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt T Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4 pole, flat trailer connector.

Working out great after 1 year !

2009 Chrysler 300C

I recently ordered 13465 class III hitch and this C55546 vehicle wiring harness for my 09 Chrysler 300C. It was very easy to install and times provided were very close. It took me just about two hours to install the hitch and harness. I did however stray a bit from the instructions on the harness though to make it more permanent and secure. Drilled hole in trunk floor pan and ran harness through it with some wire loom and a grommet. Then drilled a small hole in flat part of safety chain bracket on hitch to secure harness to hitch. I was a first time customer and would diffently use etrailer.com again.

I highly recommend this wiring setup. There was no cutting or crimping; just pull the original light connectors out then plug in to the ends on the tail lights and the plug in the other side and you are ready to go. I did it myself in less than 25 minutes and am very pleased. No problems and well worth the money spent.

I use this trailer on a daily basis for my lawn and tree business. It’s small enough to use my car to pull it, and the handling is precise. I’m hoping to invest in a larger trailer once I have a truck. The wiring harness was simple to install and works fine.

2007 Polaris RZR

I recently purchased this hitch and wiring harness for my car so I could haul my Polaris rzr. The products were installed with ease, only issue I had was rusted threads on my car. A little spay or a tap solved this issue. The hitch handles the load well. I would recommend this supplier to anyone. Fast delivery and good service. Instructions are detailed and complete. Videos are a plus, very helpful.

I have installed lighting kits on cars for many years. This kit was GREAT. Two easy connections for power and ground and the rest were plug and play. Really a nice kit and well worth the cost.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Parts To Tow a Trailer with a 2008 Chrysler 300
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76145 is what I recommend for a 2008 Chrysler 300. It has a class III rating with 2" receiver tube opening which will allow for a greater towing capacity and more ball mount options to choose from when compared to the other class II, 1-1/4" receiver tube options. In order to complete your towing setup you'll need a wiring harness, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C55546 and a ball mount/hitch...

  • Troubleshooting Curt Trailer Wiring Kit # C55546 Not Active After Install
Check to make sure the fuse is in the fuse holder of the Curt trailer wiring kit part # C55546 as well as the white wire is grounded properly. Typically when this problem arises the issue is the fuse not being installed.

  • Recommended Hitch and Related Towing Components for 2008 Chrysler 300
Two sizes and weight classes of hitch are offered for your 2008 Chrysler 300. These include several of the 1-1/4-inch Class II type and one of the 2-inch Class III type. All things being equal I suggest the 2-inch Class III hitch # 13465 from Curt since this size hitch will be more widely compatible with a range of hitch-mount accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. An install video is linked. All you will need to add is the hitch ball, either a 1-7/8-inch (# 19256) or 2-inch...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2008 Chrysler 300
You are going to have to install a wiring harness with a converter box to be able to install a 4-way on your 2008 Chrysler 300. You are correct, because the taillight circuits of your vehicle are separate and the taillights on most trailers are combined a converter box is required. The Curt wiring harness part # C55546 would be the correct harness for your vehicle and would install pretty easily.
