This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Converter is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.Easy install, first time I've done this and it was a piece of cake. The in-line couplers make it easy. Good instructions, but not much info on the passenger side install. You need a 10 mm socket to remove a bolt in 2 locations, both part of a storage clip. After they're removed, pry back the molding to get at the plug. Mine was behind some foam padding (picture). Before I put it back together , I tested it with an inexpensive tester like Code: I26, Worked perfectly. Definitely recommend this product.
Installed it in my 2004 Mazda MPV to allow me to use a rented U-Haul motorcycle trailer. I was really pleased to find this harness readily available now although the MPV has been out of production since 2005.
Given the very reasonable price I was truly surprised at the quality of this harness and the attention to detail paid in assembly (like the well applied heat shrink tube insulation) and accessories such as the included cable ties. I first thought the instructions were a little light but once I was actually working on the car I found them adequate, and the installation was straight forward.
I honestly could not be more pleased with product and delivery.

VERY EASY AND QUICK, JUST FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. No need to splice anything. Ease of installing wiring is why I decidet to do self install of hitch & wire, rather than pay $400 to have it done

Im honestly shocked at how easy this was, Ive been paying Uhaul to install my lights for years! They normally charge 125-150$, this took me 10 minutes to install, and it worked perfectly, the included instructions guided me nicely through the process.
