Video Transcript for RockyMounts Fork Mount Bike Racks Truck Bed Track Review

Colin: Hey guys, it's Colin here at etrailer. Today we're going to take a look at RockyMount's line of truck bed fork-mounted bike racks. These bike racks are going to be available for a variety of trucks. Just see etrailer.com if it's something you're interested in.It's going to be able to haul up to two bikes, to and from your destination, while gripping it by the forks. One big advantage that our customers really like about this bike rack, is they don't have to remove their bikes to pull into their garage. With the hitch-mounted bike rack, that just gets too long to be able to fit in the garage, so you have to unload it all.

And that goes for the roof-mounted bike racks as well. You've got to take those off to be able to fit with your height. With this truck bed bike rack, you just pull in your garage, you don't got to worry about unloading or anything. You just go inside, and it's there for you next time you want to go out. Now, with this bike rack, you're not sacrificing all of the space in your truck bed. Depending on the length, you might have space behind your bikes to be able to put luggage or other cargo. And there's also going to be space in between the bikes to put other stuff as well.In this kit, you're going to get the truck bed track from RockyMounts.

This is going to mount to the inside of your truck bed, using a series of nuts and bolts. So you're not going to have to do any drilling with your truck bed, but you may have to remove some plugs to access some tie-down holes. Then you're also going to get two fork-mounted bike racks to go into the T-slot of your track. Once you tighten those down, you'll be able to load up your bikes.Huge advantage is that you do have adjustability. These are just going to use a set of Allen bolts and little plates down there.

If you have some wider-set handlebars, you can scoot this out, to get more space in between your bikes. The fork locks are going to come with lock cylinders, so no one can just come up and undo the clamp, and remove your bike. Once you get it clamped on and secured, just grab your included key, insert that into the lock cylinder, lock it up, and now we can't access that clamp. One thing I do want to point out, is that while your bikes are going to have a great theft deterrent with the lockable clamps, the track itself does not have any type of lock. However, it does take a special tool to undo the bolts that are connecting it the truck bed. But, if you are looking for something that's is going to be lockable, for both the bikes and the track, we do have the Swagman Patrol, and that's available here at etrailer. If that's something you're interested in, it will be able to lock both the track and the clamp. One thing to keep in mind is that if you do have a tonneau cover, like our truck does, we had to remove that to be able to get our bike rack installed.

But, it's pretty simple just to remove that and get it back on. And the track is very easy to install, so if you wanted to take it off at the end of the day and get your tonneau cover back on, you can do that as well. When you're ready to unload, all you have to do, is undo that clamp, the bike comes right out, and it is going to secure just like all of the fork-mounted blocks. To get your forks inserted, once you have it loosened or tightened, to the correct point, just clamp it down, and it's ready to go. One thing you do want to keep in mind, is that with the fork mount, you need to remove your front tire. That can be stowed either in the bed of your truck, like we have right below our bikes, or you can put it in your vehicle. Just personal preference. Now there is an option to add a third fork block, so you can carry up to three bikes in the bed of your truck. Keep in mind that is going to be the maximum weight capacity of this truck bed bike rack. Now these bike racks are going to hold your bikes very secure, not gonna have to worry about them while you're traveling. Personally, it does make me feel a little bit more comfortable having them in the bed of my truck rather than on top of my roof. Well, thank you all for watching. That's going to do it for our look at the line of RockyMounts truck bed bike racks.

Arrived quick! Not damaged in shipping. The rail looks great and should mount easily to my tonneau cover for a custom rack solution. Thanks!

  • Cross Bars And Bike Rack Recommendation For Pace Edwards Tonneau Cover With Ultragroove Rails
While there isn't something like the RockyMounts Truck Bed Track for Fork Mount Bike Racks # RKY10992 that is available and can be mouned into the Ultragroove rails on your Pace Edwards tonneau cover I do have another solution. Instead, you could mount a set of crossbars like Yakima JetStream Crossbars # Y00426, with the Landing Pad 1 for Yakima SkyLine and Control Towers # Y00221, and the BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y28TR, and connect them to the T-track in your tonneau cover.
