Cell Phone Signal Booster Installed

Single-User Signal Booster

While being one of the most affordable cell phone signal boosters, the N-Range 2.0 is also one of the easiest to use. It improves the signal for one device while it's in the cradle, giving you improved performance when using navigation or making hands-free calls. A single cable connects the powerful outside antenna, giving a boosted signal to the phone on the cradle inside. Its simple design makes it easy to install and remove, so it's there when you need it and out of the way when you don't.

Extended Range Technology

SureCall's Extended Range Technology makes this one of the most powerful cell phone signal boosters available. The outside antenna gives an initial boost to the signal between it and the cell tower. This allows it to reach farther and produce a better connection before the signal is boosted a second time at the primary booster inside your vehicle. This booster is the better choice for you if you spend a lot of time traveling in remote areas where cell reception is poor.

Signal Booster Registration

Before use, you must register this device with your wireless provider and have your provider's consent. Most providers consent to the use of signal boosters. Some providers may not consent to the use of this device on their network. The four largest carriers - AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular - and more than 90 regional carriers have given blanket consent for use of all boosters certified to the new FCC standards. All four major carriers allow registration via online form.

Oscillation Prevention

When setting up your cell phone signal booster, its important to have the outside antenna and inside antenna as far away from each other as possible. If they are too close, it can cause oscillation. This feedback loop can cause the signal booster to be less effective or completely ineffective. If you are not getting good performance from your booster, check the antennas and see if they can be repositioned to be further apart.

Video Transcript for SureCall N-Range 2.0 Cell Phone Signal Booster Review

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at our inner range cell phone signal booster for your single phone right here at etrailer. So etrailer.com is in Wentzville, Missouri and we're kind of in the middle of nowhere. What usually happens is if we take a right down the country roads, we lose cell service. So it's hard to make our calls, our texts don't send. What's a solution for that 'Cause I'm sure you've experienced that too as you go on your long road trips and adventures.

A signal booster just like this, will help out with that. So we'll talk about how a signal booster works and what kind of signal booster is gonna be best for you and your different types of situations. So the N-Range 2.0 is probably gonna be the most portable signal booster that SureCall offers. This is going to be a magnetic mount signal booster. So great if you need something as temporary, as well as very portable.

And you really have just two main parts to this. So you have your shark fin antenna which is your outside antenna. And then you have your phone mount which is gonna be your inside antenna. So compared to the larger offerings that SureCall has, which she usually has three main parts, your shark fin is gonna be a two-in-one. Then you're gonna have your inside antenna.

So you only have to worry about two main parts. This entire base of your shark fin antenna is the magnetic mount. So this mounts directly to the metallic part of your vehicle. Although, I do try to make sure that you have enough surface to cover the entire base. So how big is the base of this mount So in terms of width, it's going to be about three and a half inches.

In terms of length, it's going to be five inches length. And then for height or how much height this adds to top of your roof, it's gonna be about three and a quarter inches. Now those measurements are still important if you don't have a metal roof on your vehicle because you do have an option to use the included tape with this. It's gonna be the same size and that's what you can use to adhere to your non metallic roof. So this just adds to how portable this signal booster is. As you can see, the shark fin I added and the shark fin I already have on my vehicle, my own antenna is even taller than this so this is small in comparison. So here's your two main components of your booster. So you have your two-in-one outside antenna. So this is the antenna plus booster. This has a cable that is 10 feet long. Then you have your inside antenna or your phone mount. So this is almost six feet in length for the cable. So just add that together and that will help you figure out how to wire from your antenna all the way to where your phone is gonna sit. So we talked about how this can be used and how to figure out how to use it. So let's take this inside and I'll show you how to set this up. Now this uses a 12 volt plug which fits right into the 12 volt outlet of your vehicle. You can also use this with other 12 volt outlets just make sure that they have enough power to power the entire system. So this uses less than 12 watts of consumption. Just make sure that if you are using an outlet that is not on your vehicle. let's say you put a 12 volt outlet in a trailer, try to make sure to match the amperage 'cause this may pull a good amount of energy through. So I'll show you how to get an accurate measurement of a signal so you can see how much is boosted. You can see at the top that I have like zero, sometimes one bar of signal. That's actually not as accurate as looking at the actual decibel milliwatts. So I'm gonna check it on my phone and this process can be very easy on an Android. This will also work on an iPhone but I do recommend looking up how to field test an iPhone just to check that actual signal strength. You're just gonna go into your settings. You wanna look into your phone information, then you want to just see your SIM status and then you'll see your signal strength. So instead of just seeing a zero or one bars of strength, I can see the actual decibel milliwatts. So this will help you figure out whether you can boost your phone signal and how much you need of a boost. So if you're closer to zero that means you have a better signal. For example, I have a hundred and or negative 122. That's really, really poor signal. An example of excellent service would be something around negative 60. So that's how you can tell how much service you actually have and how much you need. So that's why when I say, this booster gives you a max increase of 23 decibel milliwatts, that explains how much this actually boosts your signal. So compared to the other offerings that SureCall has, like the heavier or more powerful versions, those can boost up to 50 des- or increase up to 50 decibel milliwatts This one does half the job but still a good increase when you have almost zero signal. Now this needs to be by the phone mount to fully utilize the boost. So even beside it, we still have a little bit of a boost but it'll be a lot more if it was actually engaged This is really easy to mount onto your phone mounts. You just pop this tap down and fit it right into the side mounts. Now, this would be a lot easier with your larger phones. Once you have your smaller iPhones they actually might not fit in between those arms. If you need to charge your phone while it's on the mount, this has an opening on the inside depending on if you have a case or not. As you can see, even with the case on I can fit the charger right underneath. The minimum width your phone has to be to fit in here is gonna be from one side to the other two and a half inches. The first thing you wanna do when installing your signal booster is to clean off your surface area. So right here on top, I'm gonna put it beside my other antenna. I'm just gonna clean that area off of dust and pollen. Once the surface is cleaned off and you've also verified that your magnetic mount surface looks nice and clean, just pop that onto your roof. We have a nice and secure connection there. So what I do is I put it towards the back of my vehicle because then I can run it through my back hatch. I just pop this through that opening there and just bring it through my hatch and pull that cord all the way through. And now, depending on your vehicle, you'll probably want to just feed this through where it's not intrusive or obtrusive in your passenger space. So if you can make use of the handles on the side, that would be perfect. Then this is gonna be your inside antenna or your phone mount. So this will have a plug at the end. You're gonna connect this to the outside plug that you just fed through your car. So that just goes together and threads to off. For your inside antenna or your phone mount, you have different mounting actions. So you can use adhesives, just remember that if you are using adhesive, get about 24 hours to cure. You can also bolt the mount to let's say a surface inside of your vehicle, if you prefer. Now, I'm not mounting this permanently. I wanna switch this with my different vehicles. So I'm going to use the vent mount. So you're gonna wanna press this lever and then you're gonna want to pop that right into your vent. Once that fits over it, you have that hook on the end and that secures the amount. You're also gonna get this threaded knob. So that's just gonna fit right over whatever mounting option you pick. That way when you pop that onto that ball mount, you then tighten it into place with that knob. But don't forget, you have to power this too. So plug that right into your 12 volt outlet. That should fit right in there. And then you're gonna connect this to your phone mount. You're then gonna turn your plug on. Once that red light is on, you know that there's power going through. You pop your phone in and you can see the green light turn on on the phone mount as well. So that's pretty much how you install everything but we wanna see it in action. Let's go take it on the road and see how it boosts our signal. So we've been driving down the highway for a bit. Now we're going onto some country roads, going over bumps and potholes. And the magic magnetic mount has held up pretty well. So I was slightly concerned when I was going fast or when I was going really speedy over certain areas, if it would fall off. But so far so good. It's holding up pretty well. So we drove around and we're kind of in the middle of nowhere here in Missouri. So I wanted to make sure we reached the spot where we had very little cell service. So on my phone it's actually at negative 125 decibel milliwatt. So that is really bad service. Now let's turn this on and see how that changes with the booster on. Once we turn it on, it takes a little bit of time. But let's see, it changed from 123, we're now to 115. So this is very helpful when you are in very rural areas or you're far away from a cell tower. Remember, this can only be used if you have at least a little bit of signal. If you have absolutely none, this is not gonna work out for you. You have to make sure that your cell tower is at least 30 to 50 miles away. So if you want something super easy to carry around and portable, that's gonna be the SureCall N-Range 2.0. If you wanna be able to give signal to multiple devices and have something a bit more powerful, definitely check out the SureCall Max. But this right here was a quick look at the SureCall N-Range 2.0 cell phone signal booster at etrailer.com. My name's Evangeline, and I hope you enjoy the journey. And then I'm gonna then talk about the amounts, talk about the power, and then go back outside and talk about where you mount it. And that's when I showed how to do the long cords and then install. After install, we go out into the countryside. And then after we do final thoughts and out, thank you..
