Video Transcript for Review of GSI Outdoors Camping Kitchen - Gourmet PourOver Java Set - GSI52SV

Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the GSI outdoors, gourmet pourover coffee set. So this is gonna give you a really complete set to make a nice cup of coffee no matter where you are. It might be a little bit too heavy for somebody who's been backpacking. But if you're car camping or you're an RVer and you just wanna have a nice compact coffee set, this is a really nice option for you. So you're gonna get several things in here. You're gonna get the pour over coffee device and it comes with a reusable filter.

That's kind of a nice update from the previous version where you had to use a paper filter of your own. So a lot more eco-friendly. And this just pops up, has a BPA free silicone cup. So it allows that to drip into your coffee or allows your coffee to drip into your cup. And then you've also got a grinder, the JavaMill.

So you can really get the best freshest cup of coffee that you could want by being able to grind your own beans. So this is a really nice compact way to do that. One thing, I totally missed this on the first couple of times I was playing around with it but this little tiny handle comes apart, flips around to make it a lot easier to grind up your coffee beans. So that's one thing don't be like me. And makes it pretty easy to grind up your beans.

It is adjustable so you can get that grind just how you like it. So let's take a little closer look and I'll give you some specs as well to make sure that this is going to be a good fit for you. So it's pretty all in one. I mean, this is really nothing that you don't need to make a good cup of coffee. A lot of people like the Java Drip just because it's so simple and it packs down really small.

Also, if you're gonna be outside making coffee and you're in a cold environment, since it comes with this lid you can put that over the top, even while it's brewing. So that's gonna help to keep the heat in there a lot better than something that's just open. So again, if you're gonna be somewhere that's pretty cold that should really help to keep your coffee hot while it's brewing. So that by the time it goes through it's not stone cold. Also comes with a spoon. So you can use this to stir up your coffee. If you are a person who loves to add creamer or anything like that. But I also think it's gonna be helpful for just kind of as a measuring spoon. It doesn't say what capacity it is but I'd say that this is probably, if you know had it heaping over, that's probably a tablespoon right there. So, you know, heaping tablespoon of coffee, you know put two of those in here for a nice strong cup of coffee and you should be good to go. I think you could probably get away with making two cups at once in here. Of course there's nothing to stop, you know so if you're trying to split it between two different receptacles, you probably wouldn't be able to really have a way to let you know once you get halfway. But if you're trying to fill up a bigger cup. If you like a lot of coffee, I always like a lot of coffee. You could probably get away with two cups there. The grinder is pretty nice. It's kind of similar to like a pepper grinder. Honestly, that's what I always think of when I look at this, the JavaMill. It's a lot like a pepper mill. But inside here you've got a else spot for your grounds to be collected. This is also where you would make the adjustment of the ceramic burr to make it looser. So you could get a coarser grind, or tighter and get a fine grind. At the top, we pull this whole piece up. That's where you put your beans in. So pretty easy to use, just pushes right down on there. I have seen some folks say that the top or bottom like to come out. So whenever you are grinding, it's kinda best if you can put it on a surface or maybe even hold it from the bottom, and then push down and grind away. Again the handle comes apart to make it easy and a little bit more compact to store. But just wanna be sure to flip those around so that it gives you a nice ergonomic handle. So you don't wear up your arm while you're trynna grind those beans. I think this is a really nice kit. I think it's really, especially for people who are maybe over landing or RVers, you know. Space is always at a premium, even if you're not as concerned with weight as if you're a backpacking. But I think this is gonna be a really simple paired down system. With that reusable filter, that's really nice cause you're not having to worry about paper filters. Should be pretty easy to clean. It's a nylon material. So it has a really nice fine weave. Should keep out the grounds and a pretty simple just drip coffee set up overall. And I also like that even with this being collapsible. This filter, you can just clean it out, let it dry let everything dry, but pack it all together. So it's all ready to go whenever you want it. And then this packs down to be about an inch thick. So it really doesn't take up too much space. And it does come with this bag for all your stuff to get stashed inside. Now all told it weighs about 13 and a half ounces. So under a pound, but still, you know probably gonna be a little bit heavier than you might want to really pack with you. As far as measurements, you can find all of those lifts slid out on our website here. The Java Drip is about five and a half inches in diameter and that coffee grinder is about six inches tall. Everything is covered by a limited lifetime warranty. And that's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at the GSI outdoors, gourmet pourover Java set. I hope that this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right kit for you. We do have a lot of other gear from GSI here at etrailer.com and all kinds of accessories for your outdoor adventures whether you're a car camper, an RVer or more. So be sure to check those out and thanks for watching..
