Heavy-Duty Tie-Downs

Heavy-duty strength in a lightweight package: the TorkLift Talon tie-downs are the premium choice for heavy truck campers and unforgiving climates. Made of military-grade aluminum alloy, the removable arms are rustproof and robust while also being lightweight and easy to handle. The receiver brackets are constructed of rugged stainless steel, and both components are protected by a high-impact powder coat finish that guards against wear and tear.

A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity is going to sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift talon tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush to the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not using them and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Talon Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Video Transcript for TorkLift Talon Front Camper Tie-Downs Installation - 2015 Ford F-150

Today in 2015 Ford F150, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the TorkLift Talon Custom Aluminum Frame-Mounting Camper Tie-Downs. These are for the front, part# is TLF2018A. Here's what our camper tie-downs look like, installed. As you can see, really pretty straightforward system. We're going to have attachment points here that are all going to go into preexisting holes. We're not going to have to worry about drilling any holes, or anything like that. Something that's only on the driver's side here, you're going to see the two nuts are holding in our gusset plate, here. This actually leaves room for your parking brake cable to go through, if you've got a mechanical style parking brake.

The electronics, you won't have to worry about, but a mechanical, that's going to pass right through there. They've really thought of everything for us, it makes it a pretty easy system to get installed. The benefit to our camper tie-downs being frame mounted, here, is that we're bringing everything down and locking into our frame, so our camper's not going to do that side-to-side moving, it's not going to do that shifting. This is going to give us better stability, and better handling as we're heading down the road. These are adjustable. We're going to have four inches of adjustment. You can see here we've got two holes to select from.

Our first hole would be that position, there. From the outside edge of our truck that's going to give us about nine inches to the end of our mount. If we move it in that four, we should be closer to five now. Yeah, right on five inches right here to the end. That's going to allow adjustment.

You'll see a little movement, and a little play. If you leave these in when you're heading down the road, and you're camper's not secured, these are going to make some noise. They've allowed a tolerance here, so as dirt, grime, and stuff like that get in there, we're still going to be able to install these easily. When not in use, completely remove them from the vehicle, and we're not losing any ground clearance, we're not really losing anything. We're just going to have a nice, solid anchor point for when we want to travel with our camper. TorkLift stands behind their product really well. They're offering a lifetime warranty with this, so if anything's ever to go wrong, we get it back to them, they're going to get it fixed for us.

This is made completely out of aircraft grade aluminium, and we've got a very strong, sturdy, black powder coat finish to give it a nice look, and keep it looking good for a long time. Of course, with the aluminum construction, we're going to have no worry of any kind of rusting or corrosion. To being our installation, we're going to take one of our half inch by two inch bolts. We want to thread that onto a bolt leader. We're going to add on one of the serrated washers, also one of the spacer blocks there, just like that. We'll feed it in, there's a round hole in the side of the frame, here, that I'm going to use. We want to feed the non-coiled end into there, and we want it to come out this oblong hole right here. Put our spacer in, our washer in, and our bolt. We just kind of pull it down there, and we can leave that attached for now. Now we're going to take another setup just like what we just used. This time we're going to go in the square hole, here, and we want to come out the top hole. It's going to be right below our front bed mount, and right above our forward spring perch. It's usually better to feed our items in there separately. I'm going to pull it through, but then we want to let it hand right back in, just like that. We've got our 3/8 fish wire. We're going to attach a 3/8 x 2 bolt. Then we're going to slide on one of the serrated washers, one of the smaller flat washers, another serrated washer, then our spacer block. Again here, we're going to use one of the larger square holes, and we're going to come out the triangular shaped hole. We'll pull that out, make sure we've got everything in line, there, then we'll let that rest back in the frame as well, just like that. We want to take our spacer place, and also our bracket. We're going to bring our bolt leaders through our appropriate holes here, just like that. We also want to do the one on the bottom, here. We can guide this up into position. Now we're going to carefully remove our bolt leader off of our bolt down here on the bottom. This is the one that comes out of hole F. To that, we want to add a flat washer, and we'll secure it with one of our hex nuts here at the bottom. In our instruction booklet, step 6 told us that we needed to put a flat washer, a star washer, and a hex nut on the bolt that comes out of hole F, here. After going through and installing, we realized that that was a mistake in the instructions. On bolt F here, both the driver's side and on our passenger side, you want a flat washer, you want a lock washer, and then a nut. Instead of using the star washer that they call for, please use one of the included lock washer. We're going to place on a flat washer, a lock washer, and one of our hex nuts. Now we can take off our 3/8" leader here. To that, we need to add a 2x2 square spacer, and we're going to add on a flat washer. We'll do our flat washer, and then add on our nut. We're going to take another one of our 1/2" x 2" bolts, we're going to put a star washer on it, put our plate on there, and then we're going to stick it right up here on this front spring perch, so it'll come out the hole here on the side, just like that. Under that, we're going to add a flat washer, lock washer, and our nut. It's time to snug up our bolts. We're going to do it in the following sequence. We'll start with F, then we'll move to D, then to C, which will be the 3/8 bolt, and then B, which will be the one on the very top, there. It's time for us to grab our shorter 1/2" bolts, and our gusset plate. We're going to pass those through, and then those are going to go right through the two holes that are in our bracket. On the other side, we're going to add on a flat washer, lock washer, and also a nut. Now we can snug those down. We'll look at our instructions, find our torque specifications, and get everything torqued down appropriately. Now we can slide our bracket into place. We just want the offset to be towards the front of our truck. Once we've determined which bracket we're going to be using, we've got a sticker that we'll be able to place on there. That way we won't have to walk back and forth trying to figure out which one goes where. Right here, driver's front, that's where we're at. We'll head over to our passenger side, do the exact same thing there, with the exception we won't need to install the gusset plate. With everything torqued down to specification, that's going to complete our installation of the TorkLift Talon Custom Frame-Mounting Camper Tie-Downs, part# is TLF2018A, on our 2015 Ford F150.

Installed easily and works great!

Nissan Leaf

Torklift frame mounted tie downs are a great product. The rear ones are easy to install. The front require a bit more skill and an extra set of hands. It’s a bit nerve wracking thinking you might loose the bolts into the frame! I upgraded my truck from an F150 to an F250. Because the brackets aren’t transferable, I had to get a new set and install them on my F250. I was glad I had the experience with the previous brackets on the F150 because the ones for the F250 are a bit heavier and more challenging to install. But I was able to do it with an extra set of hands to hold the brackets on to the frame. The fact that I went with the same Torklift system is a testament to the product. If you can afford aluminum, they’re beautiful and light. But once everything is in place, there’s no functional difference.
etrailer has great installation videos for the F150, but not the F250. I wish they had install videos for the F250 because it’s a bit more challenging, requiring an impact driver to loosen the nut on the driver side leaf spring.

I needed torklift but it was backorder every where in canada. So i order it onlinevat etrailer.

Excellent experience, event if i didn't talk to anyone. I received the follow up of my order at every step. I needed my order rush and it worked, even in covid time.
I recommend etrail to my rv dealer.

Ordered both front and back set for my 2023 F250. All good except one of the bolt holes for the front drive side is missing. Called etrailer. Option 1 - return (we'll see). Option 2 call torklift. Called torklift and left a message - we'll see what the response is. Viewing etrailer website, this is the proper fit. Viewing torklift website "There are no fits available". Photo included.

Torklift makes the best truck camper accessories period! Best value for the best price.

by:

Fairly easy installation, lots of support and videos if you need the help. We'll built and works as it should.

by:

Always a great product! Shipping packaging needs to be improved as these were received dinged up and scratched. Installed anyways as I didn't want to go through the hassle of reorder and return.

Will still continue to purchase products through etrailer, but wanted to make note.

by:

Excellent product and excellent service from ETRAILER! Held up well after one year, will hold up in long run as well. Fit and finish of product is outstanding. Durable coatings, and well worth the extra money for these!

by:

Great product. E trailer staff was friendly, knowledgeable and made the purchase easy. Will use them again for future needs.

by:

Installed on a 2016 RAM 3500. The install was pretty easy overall however, my biggest gripe is that I needed to purchase 6 extra Grade 8 bolts and nowhere does the packaging indicate that I needed to purchase extra hardware. Also, the drivers side mount was not manufactured 100%-flat so getting the short bolt in was a challenge but finally got it. I'm giving this a 3-star due to the missing bolts and no indication that more would be needed.

by:

The tie-downs were a bit difficult to install for a novice but if you follow instructions closely they did install as outlined in the instructions. They are lightweight and have held my camper in place very well. I am happy with this purchase.

by:

I purchased front & rear TorkLift Frame mounts. Thay worked great and safer than bed mounts.

by:

I bought the Torklift camper tie downs for my new 2017 Ram 3500 dually. I haul a Lance 850 slide in truck camper. They came today and I installed them in about 4 hours. (I work slow) I bought the Aluminum ones so I don't have to worry about any rust. They look great and like the Torklift that was on my old truck I am sure they will give me great service.

by:

About a year ago, I purchased the aluminum Talon Torklift Frame-Mounted Front and Rear Camper Tie-Downs. The install was easy taking the better part of a day including a little help from a local automotive mechanic to loosen and retorque the truck’s leaf spring bolts. The Tie-Downs have worked great since installed with no issues. I highly recommend them.

by:

Excellent product. Good customer service. I will always use tork lift products from now on.
etrailer is an excellent vendor as well.
I upgraded from happy jack camper tie downs. I like the aluminum talon tork lifts for their easy installation, zero corrosion liability, and unimposing appearance when not in use.

by:

It's a little tricky feeding the bolts through the frame (almost lost one, but a little tape on the bolt/spring helped), but a great product otherwise. The mounting scheme for my Chevy 2500 HD is strong and ingeniously designed. No drilling or welding. The aluminum won't rust like other tie-downs mounted to the frame. It was well worth the extra money to get the aluminum version of this product.

by:

My salesperson was great, especially with the mess-up in shipping and handling. (Install instructions were not included) Of course, Torklift products are very well made BUT I did have to modify them ever so slightly, probably because my 2016 Ram was put together with a little less accuracy than was needed. Would use etrailer again.

by:

I ordered Camper tie-downs for my new Ram 2500. I erroneously ordered TDL2126A for the front. They wouldn't clear the nurfs. A quick call confirmed that I would need the TDL2127A. I had to pay for the 27As up front and hope when I returned the 26As on an rmer I would receive prompt refunds. Imagine my surprise when they notified me that they received my return and the refund was on its way. These guys are super, especially Brenden C.
ps the Aluminum tie downs are great and the happy jacks awesome!

by:

Excellent Product, installed easily and does the job of holding down my large truck camper very well, very satisfied. Rick
