Combination Lock Carabiner

Lockstraps combination locking carabiner

Secure your cargo better with this unique tie-down strap extension piece. The built-in, locking carabiner at one end of the strap is supremely easy to use. Just set the combination lock with the tip of a ballpoint pen, clip the carabiner in place, and you're good to go. The sturdy, powder coated steel hook measures 6-1/2" long, making it strong enough and large enough to fit almost any application.

Durable, Secure Construction

Lockstraps 3mm stainless steel cableLockstraps reinforcing steel rivets

Not only are would-be thieves unable to unlock the carabiner on this strap, but they'll be hard pressed to slice through it too. A stainless steel interior cable runs the entire length of the double-nylon strap for superior strength and durability. In addition, both the locking carabiner and the soft tie-loop at the other end of the strap are secured to the strap with heavy-duty steel rivets, making for a supremely strong, durable, theft-resistant addition to your Lockstraps locking tie-down system.

Note: Tie-down straps should always be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The item being tied down must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 1,500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 3,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure the load. To determine the maximum load, or break strength, of the tie-down strap, simply multiply the WLL by 3. The WLL is always one-third (1/3) of the maximum load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Video Transcript for Lockstraps Soft Tie Extension with Combo Lock Carabiner Tie-Down Review

Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we are looking at our soft tie extension piece with a locking carabiner for your lock straps here at etrailer. So this is a soft tie extension piece. So it can be used two ways. One, this can be used to extend your current lock strap.

As you can see, it is a really long strap for larger items, but if you need just a shorter strap, may not have something as bulky as large or needs to be wrapped around as much kind of like how we have our generator right here. You can use it on its own as a cable lock. So let's talk about how this will work for you and how you can use this in your own situation for your own adventures and see if this is the right fit for you, or if you need either the longer strap or the shorter strap. So let's talk about first, the strap itself. So this has a nylon strap, and you can see how it can be used to wrap around either your ATV, your bike or your generator.

It also has a closed loop on one end, which your carabiner will fit through. There's also other situations you can use your locking strap. So for example, we have our generator here by our trailer at our campsite. I don't want to leave my generator out in the open without it being secured, so what I did is I used the locking strap. I wrapped it around my generator and I locked it to my trailer.

That way I can go out, do whatever I need to do and not worry about someone just grabbing this and running off with it. This uses a combination lock. So once you have set your number combination, you can just line that up and then either push or pull on that lock in order to release it from your carabiner and then either mount it or dismount it from your anchor points. With its closed strap, as well as its grommets holding it into place. If you just wrap this around whatever you need secured, feed that carabiner through that extra wide strap, and then you mount it to your anchor points, either on your cargo carrier, your basket or whatever you're mounting it to.

This is a strong, heavy duty carabiner. It definitely feels hefty. It feels weighty. For length, it is six and a half inches long and at its widest point, it is three inches wide. And if you're concerned about if it can fit around your anchor points, if you open this up to its widest setting, where it's all the way down, you have an opening from this point to that point of two and a half inches. So you can actually set your own combination. So once you get your carabiner you just open it up and you can see on the inside that there is a little thing that you have to press with your pin to just get that pin into that indent and push down. So with that push down, you can then set your own combination, but make sure to do it one at a time as you set. And then we set the second number, then the third number. So this extension piece itself isn't that long of a strap, especially compared to the original lock straps. So this is an inch and a half wide when it comes to your dimensions and as for its length, it's 24 inches long. So this is made of a double nylon strap. So you can see how there's two layers to that strap right there. And inside that nylon strap, you also have this steel cable. So this is going to be a thin spiel cable that goes throughout the strap and securing each end are these heavy duty steel rivets. Something you may consider adding on are the lock straps lock pads. So these go around your locks or your combination locks, and they secure with this hook and loop patch, and that's going to help with keeping your actual combination lock safe from the elements and prevent dirt and grime from locking them up. So my final thoughts about this soft tie extension with the combo lock carabiner is that it is a really nice, quick and easy way to lock up what's ever on your cargo carrier, cargo basket or outside. Like here, I have a nice generator that I don't want getting stolen while it's out in the parking lot. And this is a quick and easy way to lock it up. Now, no lock is unbreakable. So just keep that in mind that these are mainly used to deter theft. So you want to make sure that you keep honest people honest, and you want to make sure that your generator or whatever important outside isn't easy to get and will cause some hassle for people. So just keep that in mind with any lock you purchase, as for this it's definitely useful in terms of how quick it is, as well as that combo lock, where you have the combination. And that was a look here at our soft tie extension with a combo lock carabiner for your lock strap straps here at etrailer. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey..

This is a new product in my world. I really like it because the strap is secure, you cannot cut it. It’s good for bikes, helmets, any small personal item that needs to be secured for a short time.

See what our Experts say about this Lockstraps Cable Locks

  • How can a PortaBote be Locked to a Roof Rack
You could use something as simple as the Soft Tie extension with combination lock # LS901 to secure the PortaBote to the roof rack of the vehicle. The strap has a steel cable that runs through the inside so it couldn't just be cut off. There is also a longer version, # LS301. And another option is the traditional cable lock such as # e98891.

  • Can I Put Locks on the Curt Roof Cargo Basket?
The Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # C18115 has U-bolts with 6mm by 1 inch threading so this would not fit the threading on the locking knob # P1030. Also, using a locking knob is not recommended since the remaining u-bolt length after mounting them to your cross bars may not be enough for a different knob. There is an easier solution though than dealing with 8 locks! You can use a strap lock like # LS901 or a Rightline lock # RL100640 to secure the cargo basket to your crossbars.
