Colin: Hey everyone, I'm Colin here at eTrailer. Today, we're going to take a quick look at and we're going to show you how to install this cabin air filter from PTC on our 2014 Volkswagen Passat. Now, it's important to regularly change out your air filter. It just makes sure to prevent a lot of those contaminants or road emissions from getting through into your vehicle when you have that nice clean air blowing in. The PTC filter does have this nice charcoal texture to it. Not only is that going to help block those road emissions and those contaminants, but it's also going to block bad odors as well from getting into your vehicle.
It is recommended to change out your filter every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. But if you don't drive that much in a year, just go ahead and do it once a year.Now this filter is also going to work for your 2012 to 2015 model Passats. Now we're going to head over to the passenger side, show you guys how to get your old filter out and your new one installed. In your Passat, the cabinet air filter is going to be located under the glove box down here. There's a panel we have to remove.
There's going to be two different knobs that we just have to unscrew to remove the panel. Let's go ahead and do that. You can just set it to the side once you get it off. From there, just push up on the top and we'll pull from the back to get the panel off. Should just slide right out and then you can set it to the side.The compartment containing our old air filter is going to be right here.
We just slide that cap to the right. Let it down gently. Now you can see there's just a lot of other contaminants in there that are loose, so you do want to be careful when pulling it out, not to get your car too dirty. So we'll just pull that out and if you do get some of these contaminants everywhere, you can always just vacuum it up later. You could really see how dirty that filter is.
Really need to change it. Real quick, we can just take a look at the old filter compared to the new one. You can see all those leaves, the other debris in there and all the dust, even, that's in the filter. Our new one's really going to do a great job of making sure we have good, clean air flowing through our vehicle.Now let's go ahead and put the new one in. When replacing an air filter, you just want to make sure that this cut off right here is facing the door. We'll just get it on up in there. Once you get that on, go ahead and grab that cap. It's going to go on the same way it came off. The panels are going to go back on the same way we took it off. Just want to make sure you get all these cutouts lined up correctly. Easiest way to do it is we're going to get this top end under the panel first. Once you get that, just start to kind of fold it towards the back like so. You want to make sure you get it under the paneling from your vehicle. Just push up on it. There we go. From there, we'll grab our little locking screws. We'll come up, get those re-installed to make sure the panel stays in place.And there you have it. That was a very easy installation. This is a very simple vehicle maintenance thing that you can do by yourself at home rather than having a shop overcharge you to do something so simple. Thank you all for watching. I purchased my 2014 Passat in late 2017 and figured that it hadn't been serviced since it was new and boy was I right.. it needed attention and these filters were priced reasonable.

While the Filter seems acceptable, the [online] video etrailer has on-line showing how to DIY install/replace and access the filter is incomplete and a bad source of how to do it. In it, the information on a simple procedure like removing the glove box to get at the filter housing completely neglects to tell an Acadia owner it is necessary to easily disconnect the left-side of the glove box from the swivel restraint which takes two seconds. That earned the one star review and caused me to finally source other, complete and accurate [online] videos on how to do it.
All products came together in one package. Shipping time was fair. As always, etrailer was great for getting exactly what I needed.

I like it has carbon filter to better screen out outside impurities. It was more stiff than the original cabin filter making it harder to insert.
I haven't installed the product but it looks identical to the factory installed one. Its a compartment filter for 2019 Sienna. Delivery was on time as promised.
