Today we're going to be taking a look at the RockyMounts Carlito U-Lock. This U-lock provides great security for your bike. It's a nice compact design, so that way you can fit this into your back pocket, you can hang it on your handlebars, or you can easily place it in a messenger bag or backpack. It's going to feature a 13-millimeter alloy shackle that's very strong and durable. That shackle diameter with that silicone overlay is going to be about 5/8 of an inch in diameter, so a little bit thicker than 13-millimeter because of the silicone over-mold. This unit is a very lightweight design.
It's made from alloy, which is aluminum. It's going to be the lightest on the market at 395 grams or 0.87 pounds, and again it's got that nice silicone over-mold that offers a nice grip. Very easy to use, very easy to control, and it's going to offer ultimate protection to your bike. You don't have to worry about this scuffing or scratching the framing on your bicycle. Taking a look at the overall dimensions, starting with the overall length, measuring edge to edge, about seven inches. Going this direction edge to edge, about 5 1/4.
Now, the opening on this unit, up and down, you're going to have about five inches. Side to side right here in the center is going to be about three inches. It's about 2 7/8 to 2 15/16 of an inch wide. You will notice that down at the base it is a little bit wider, and then it kind of narrows here at the top. Again, the shackle diameter with the silicone over-mold is around 5/8 of an inch. This right here, I'm just calling this the lock head bar, the diameter of that bar is going to be 1 5/16 of an inch.
Really nice, easy to use design. It's going to come with three keys. They're all keyed alike. What you'll do when you're ready to use it is be sure to place this around a good anchor point. Place it through a sound structural area of the bike, and then simply place the lock head or lock bar back on, rotate the key to the lock position, and that's all there is to it.
The unit's also covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the RockyMounts Carlito U-Lock.
