Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this OptiMate Lithium 4 Series 10-step, AC to DC smart battery charger and maintainer. Now, this is a nice, compact smart charger which will draw power from an AC wall outlet to automatically charge, test, and maintain a lithium-iron phosphate battery. It is designed to work with the 12.8 volt LiFePO4 batteries, also known as the LFP batteries. The LiFePO4 batteries are good potential replacement for lead-acid batteries in applications such as RVs, electric vehicles, motorcycles, boats, and solar applications.
Now, this smart charger allows the battery to be charged to 100% quicker and at the correct amperage. It does use a 10-step charging algorithm, which will automatically save, charge, test and even maintain without overcharging. Analyzes the battery condition to provide a customized charge for that battery. And it will automatically and indicate if there's a battery problem. It does also safely wake the battery with integrated BMS protection out of the sleep mode.
The battery clamp, now, to connect this to your batteries, it gives you two different options here. It includes the standard battery clamp cable. You can see it has the two clamps on it for positive and negative. Provides a quick, easy way to connect to your battery. And then on the other end is the SAE connector, which will connect to the connector here on the charger.
Total length on the battery clamp cable is about 20 inches. Now, a little more permanent they offer is the eyelet cable and this has the eyelets on it. This will let you make a nice, secure connection to your battery terminals. If you notice this one includes a 15 amp inline fuse, which would protect electronics from potential short circuits. And this one also has on this end, the SAE connector for connecting to your charge.
What's nice with this one, since it's more of a permanent connection, it puts a weatherproof seal on it to help seal when it's connected. And then when it's not connected, offers this nice cap that'll cover it, keep out any dirt and water. And the length on this connection, connecting cable is about 20 inches also. It is a very simple operation. It uses LED lights here that will indicate your charging status. You can see the charger is in a nice, durable weatherproof case. It does include wall mounts, two holes here at the bottom, two right up here at the top. The six foot long AC supply lead that plugs into your AC outlet, and then a six foot long charge lead that has the SAE connector on it that'll connect to either one of these cables. Does come with a nice set of instructions that'll describe how this operates. Few specs on this again, the application is 12.8 to 13.2 volt lithium batteries from 2 1/2 to 100 amp hours. The battery types, again, it supports is the LiFePO4, which is the lithium-iron phosphate batteries. And the maximum charging amperage on this is five amps. But that should do it for the review on the OptiMate Lithium 4 Series 10-step, AC to DC smart battery charger and maintainer..
