Hello neighbors and friends, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Bolt covered padlock for a two inch shackle and it's gonna code to a Ford Center cut key. So folks, just like I said, this is made to fit a Ford Center Cut key, typically something like the ones imaged here on the screen. Now I can tell you this fits roughly the 2021 through the current Ford trucks, but I also want you to make sure that you're checking our fit guide. Check the fit guide here on the product page as well. Make sure you see your year, make and model on there to be sure it fits.

Now these are a one time code lock, meaning once you put that key in there, it's gonna permanently code it to only one vehicle. You can never recode it, re-key it. A locksmith can't do it either. It's just the way the technology is and that's to keep it specifically coded to your key and your key alone. Now it is a nice heavy duty padlock and I can tell you I'm actually kind of impressed with how heavy it really is as far as just the weight.

I'd say it's pretty much close to a pad, believe it or not. And as you can see, it's not too big. It's about four and a half inches tall, give or take. It's two inches on the shackle length here and it's 5/16 inch thick on the rod itself or the the shackle itself. Now you could use this for something like securing equipment to your rack on the truck bed to prevent people from stealing it.

Maybe a job box, toolbox, depending on the style you have, putting the cable through something and locking the cable, protect camping gear when you're away from the camp. And again, this uses the vehicle's ignition key, so you always have the right key with you and it eliminates you having to have extra keys on your keying as well. So you've never heard of Bolt technology or never seen them. Pretty simple. I'm gonna leave this on here.

But basically that sticker is basically saying, hey, once you put this key in, it's coded to your vehicle. And again, it only works with those Ford Center Cut keys. So you simply, when you get this out of the box, you'll pull that key out of your key fob, you'll insert it and unlock it and boom, just like that. It's already keyed to your key and it's ready to go. Don't ask me how the technology works. I am not a professional (laughs) as far as locks go, but that's how it works. I'm pretty impressed with this brand. They've been around for years. They also sell hitch locks that you can key to your vehicle key and many, many more. So I recommend you checking out the whole line of the Bolt technology. It's pretty impressive. Now, it does have inside a six plate tumbler sidebar that's gonna prevent lock picking or bumping the lock to get it undone, such as hitting it with a hammer or something. And it is an automotive quality lock. It's very durable. Like I mentioned, it's weatherproof, the stainless steel lock mechanism itself that's protected behind this nice plastic coating and everything. It's gonna keep out dirt, moisture, debris, and it's got a nice durable, easy to grip, hard rubber casing around it to also protect it and make it a lot more ergonomic to pick up and stuff. Now it is chrome plate at hardened steel on the shackle itself and it is crust resistant on the body itself. So they've tested this, you know, to a certain amount to smash and break it, and it's way above what the physical human could do without lots and lots of heavy duty equipment.
