Specs:
Note: BOLT locks permanently code to only 1 vehicle. They cannot be re-coded or re-keyed.
To install this lock simply insert the ball into the coupler's ball socket. Insert the collar into the base plate until it's snug against your trailer latch and the holes align with the holes in the base plate. Insert the lock through the holes in the base plate, and use your vehicle's ignition key to secure it.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this BOLT Off Vehicle Trailer Coupler Lock for your Ford Center Cut Keys. Now, this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the Ford and Lincoln vehicles that use the center cut key design, and by that design, I want to show you the insert here, that's the type of keys that this will work with, and if you noticed, the key itself has the center cut design to it. Now, this BOLT coupler lock will protect your trailer from tow away theft by preventing hookup to your coupler. The application for this, it'll work on 1 7/8 inch, 2 inch, and 2 5/16 size couplers. Wanna zoom in and show you the parts that are included, includes everything on the table here.
It includes the plate, the shackle, the bolt lock with the stainless steel pin, two different ball sizes, and the bolt to attach it, comes with a nice set of instructions that'll tell you how this operates, and this is designed to fit most latch style couplers. Basically, the integrated ball, one of these right here, will attach to the steel plate, and then your coupler will go over that ball. So basically, if you noticed, it gives you two different sizes, the smaller ball is for 1 7/8 inch and 2 inch couplers, the larger ball is for the 2 5/16 size couplers. Today, I'm gonna demonstrate this using a two inch coupler, so I'm gonna take the bolt and attach the smaller one, to fit the two inch coupler to the plate. And then once you get that tightened down, I'm just gonna snug it, just to give you an idea.
So with this all snugged down and in place, then basically what happens, is your coupler will go over this, the six position shackle here will then go over the coupler, slide down here, the pin and then the lock will go through here to lock it into place, and the idea is it'll restrict the coupler latch movement. So again, just to demonstrate, I'm gonna show you here. Here's an example of a two inch coupler, fits a two inch size ball. So you can see with that on there, if you put your coupler over there, and then latch it into position just like that, and then what you'll do is take your shackle here and put it over the latch portion. There's two different sections here, you wanna put it over the one that's gonna latch over or the shackle is gonna go over the latch.
Once you get it in the right position, line it up with the correct pin hole, once you get the correct pin hole, slide that large stainless steel pin all the way through. Once you get it all the way through, and then this is your lock, actually, this bolt lock is what will code to your vehicle's ignition key, then it's nearly impossible to pick or bump it, uses a six plate tumbler sidebar on the lock to prevent picking or bumping. So basically, what happens is once you put your key in there and it gets to know your key, then you're ready to go, then you can just pop this right on there, and it's locked into place. And the idea, once that's locked into place, if you noticed, you won't be able to lift up on your latch to release your coupler, and you can see that you won't be able to move this. Since your trailer won't be attached to a ball, you install this in place of it, and then nobody could hook this up with a hitch ball and take it away.
And then what you'll do to unlock it, just open it up, take your ignition key that you've coded to this lock, put it in there, turn it, remove it, slide your pin again, all the way out. Once you get your pin all the way out, remove the shackle, unlatch your coupler, and then you're all ready to go, it's simple as that. Now, one thing I do wanna mention is these bolt locks, they will permanently code to only one vehicle and they cannot be recoded or re-keyed. And if you noticed, these parts here have a nice red and black powder coat finish on them to help resist corrosion. But that should do it for the review on the BOLT Off Vehicle Trailer Coupler Lock for the Ford Center Cut Keys..
