BOLT Locks for Convenience and Security

Are you tired of carrying a bulky ring of keys - for your hitch lock and coupler lock, your pickup cover or trailer door, and all the various padlocks securing your equipment? Tired of fumbling for the right key or having to replace a lost key?

BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.

When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.

Video Transcript for BOLT Hi Lift Jack Mount Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the BOLT Hi-Lift Jack Mount for the driver side in black, part number BL7028648. It's also available for the passenger side in black, part number BL7028649. In red for the driver side, part number BL7028650. In red for the passenger side, part number BL7028651. Never leave home without your Hi-Lift Jack. This custom fit mount allows you to carry your jack on the side of your Jeep.

It's going to fit 2007 and up Jks, and the BOLT technology allows you to code the lock to your Jeep's key. The lock is made with a high quality rubber casing with a dust cover so it's going to stand up to the elements. You want to be sure and code it to your key before you install it. Otherwise you won't be able to get it off. For demonstration purposes, we won't be installing it today. The two black knobs help keep our jack tight in place, while the lock prevents theft.

It features a plate tumbler that prevents bumping and picking. We've gone ahead and removed the jack so we can go over some additional features. It's made from an automotive grade steel with a black powder coat finish, so it's going to resist rust and corrosion. The hardware is made from stainless steel. The lower bumper helps keep the jack tight against the Jeep so you can avoid rattling.

The two rubber pads prevent metal to metal contact between your jack and your mount. It's a no drill application. All the hardware you need to get it installed is included. Let's go ahead and show you that now. We're here on the passenger side and it installs the exact same way as the driver side. You're going to need a Torx Bit.

We're just going to remove the two lower bolts here. If the two bolts are painted, you may have to use an impact wrench to get them off, but ours are pretty simple here. You want to make sure the Torx Bit gets a good grip on the bolts and then you can take them out. We'll be replacing these bolts with the included hardware. When you get your mount, it's not a bad idea to go ahead and just remove the two black knobs as they might get in the way. When we set it in place, we'll want to grab our shim here, line it up with the holes on our mount, and then we can grab our hardware and set it in place. That shim's just going to help protect our Jeep's finish. The way the hardware works is you're going to take your lockwasher, put that on first, and then the flatwasher, and then we can take our mount and just start that in place. We don't want to tighten that down all the way just yet. Go ahead and grab our other hardware, and get that started as well. As far as the two holes, you just want to use whatever hole matches up with your Jeep. We're going to go with this first one here, and then we can start that in place. It's always a good idea to hand tighten first, that way you can ensure that the threads do match up. The hardware that's included just requires a half inch wrench, so we can just go ahead and tighten those down evenly. Once we get that most of the way, I'll go ahead and start the other one. In positioning the jack, you just want to be sure and set it so that the foot does not come in contact with the running boards. We'll set it in place. The bolt's just going to come through our holes, which is nice because it's going to kind of hold it in place while we put on our black knobs. Once we have it in position, we can then take our knobs and screw it in place. You may need to rotate the jack a little bit just to line up the holes. It's just as easy as that. Now we can adjust our lower bumper. The idea is to make sure that the bumper makes contact with the Jeep. We don't want to tighten this down. It's just like an anti-rattle device. That's it, just to keep the rattling from happening. Once we get it somewhat snug, then we can take the locknut and bring it towards the jack. That's going to keep it from backing off. That just requires a 9/16 wrench just to get it snug. That's pretty good. All that would be left to do is to take your BOLT Lock, go ahead and remove the dust cap here, remove the sticker, put in the key that you'd like to code it with, and then put it on. In some cases your jack may interfere with the door. If that's the case, you can just reverse it and have the foot pointing forward. You'll still need to be aware that there may be some slight contact with the mirror or the hinges, so use caution when opening your doors. That's going to complete our look at the BOLT Hi-Lift Jack Mount, part number BL7028648.

Jeep

The mounting bracket is good quality. bolts on easy. Hidden behind the A pillar and no obstructed view out the windshield. no whistleing from wind, no rattle. Shipping was slow on my order but thats about the only negative I can say. What no one is mentioning is... that when you mount the jack on the drivers side, the jack gears are outward facing and allow clearance to the jeep. when mounting on the passenger side, the jack gears are inward and will rub. choose wisely.
Yes I would reccommend this to fellow Jeepers

See what our Experts say about this Bolt BOLT Locks

  • Why is it Important that the Foot of Jack Not Contact Running Board with BOLT Hi-Lift Jack Mount
During the installation video for the BOLT Hi-Lift Jack Mount # BL7028648, it is recommended to avoid contact with your Jeep's running board when mounting the jack. This is to prevent any damage that may occur to either the jack or the running board while sliding the jack onto the Jack Mount or when driving after everything is installed. If the foot of the jack sits too low, any slight movement could cause damage to the running boards, vehicle body, jack or jack mount over time.
