2015 Ford F-53 - Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Brackets for Class A Motor Homes

  • Steering Stabilizer
  • Roadmaster
  • Includes Mounting Hardware

The sturdy steel spring on this stabilizer keeps your Ford F-53 in line by constantly working to maintain its position. Mount it between the steering mechanism and the chassis for a tight connection that will minimize wander and correct oversteering.

Features:

  • Compensates for oversteering and returns your vehicle to center
    • Tempered steel spring works to return to its normal state - when compressed, spring pushes back into neutral position; when extended, it pulls back
  • Attaches to the steering mechanism on one end and to the chassis undercarriage on the other
    • Tight connection between these components keeps steering firm and controlled
  • Helps you to maintain control of your vehicle in the event of crosswinds, rut tracking, road edging or a tire blowout
  • Reduces road fatigue - stabilizer keeps you centered so that you don't have to work as hard to steer
  • Installs in approximately 1 hour with no drilling or welding
  • Includes stabilizer, custom mounting brackets, hardware and installation instructions
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited lifetime warranty

A variety of things can make your vehicle veer - crosswinds, uneven pavement, tire blowout. The key to a pleasant, and safe, driving experience is learning how to deal with these situations. Roadmaster's Reflex Steering Stabilizer works to return your vehicle to center when something happens that causes it to swerve or jolt. As a result, you won't have to oversteer in an attempt to stay in line, thus minimizing road fatigue.

The stabilizer attaches to your vehicle's tie rod on one end and to the frame on the other. A heavy-duty steel spring runs the length of the rod, constantly working to keep steering controlled. If you steer your vehicle one way and it gets pulled the opposite way, the spring will stretch momentarily and then quickly pull back to its normal state. If you oversteer your vehicle in the same direction it is already moving, the spring will compress for a moment but then push back out to its prior state. No matter how you steer or how the frame is pushed or pulled, your vehicle will always return to center.

First, I did have to grind off corner of the plate that mounts under leaf spring bolts. It would not lay flush so I tapered one of the edges where it met the axel a little bit till it laid flush. I did buy a 3/4 inch wrench set but with an rv, it's good to have and will possible allow me to get the 22.5 inch wheels off in an emergency. This with a good solid 3' pipe and I was able to fairly easily break the leaf spring bolts free. I used boards to ensure the fronts tires were fairly straight, laying them alongside the tires and eyeballing to see where they lined up with the back tires which are about 4 inches wider than the front outside width. I mounted the steering stabilizer and took it for a test drive and it was good the first time, no additional adjustments needed. Feels good on the road, good around turns, and even at low speeds around the driveway, I did not notice any extra effort to turn the wheel due to the heavy spring on the stabalizer. Put about 75 miles on it and it feels solid and stable though no high winds or passing semi trucks yet. But my 2007 ford f53 22000 lb chassis under a holiday rambler admiral body has always felt pretty good. Just trying to make better, next up is the new koni evo fsd heavy duty shocks coming today.

Easy install. Better control & less wander going down road. Does increase effort when turning tight radius corners.
Make sure it is centered & tight on steering rod.

To start off, the folks at etrailer were the most professional and helpful. I cannot remember a company I have dealt with in the past that offers such help in determining the correct product and answering my many questions.

The installation of the RBK22 bracket was flawless. I was very concerned because of the size of my Newmar Country Star 3911 motor home (26,000 GVRW). The U bolt nuts came off without a lot of strain, since I went out an purchased a 3/4" breaker bar. We installed the mounting bracket and re torqued the U bolt nuts to the factory 250 ft. lbs of torque.

Installing the RSSA went smooth as well. Check out the pictures below. We then took the motor home out on the freeway and drove it between 65 - 70 mph. Steering was wonderful! Before, I could only drive 55 mph and had to constantly fight with the steering wheel to keep the motor home straight.

Thank you etrailer and Roadmaster for such a great product!

It’s been working great. Have take two cross country trips and zero sway from big truckers or high winds.

by:

Works well, install was a little tough as the video showed mounting bracket instructions different then the bracket I installed . I had to remove the spring u bolt nuts. That was not an easy task. Had to use a breaker bar and my legs to remove them. Install was easy and took about 20 minutes. Steering feels good.Happy with etrailer and the product.

2017 Nissan Leaf

I installed the Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer on my 2017 Thor Miramar 34.1. The installation was pretty simple and straight forward after the passenger side leaf spring u-bolt nut removal. Those leaf spring u-bolt nuts are torqued to 250 ft lbs and it required a 24" long 1/2" drive breaker bar and a 1-1/8" deep socket to get the job done. Torquing those back to 250 ft lbs while lying on your back underneath the coach is a challenge. I'm just saying all this for anyone considering home installation. The rest of the installation was a breeze and upon performing my test drive I was impressed with the improvement in the steering handling. I also installed the Roadmaster rear anti-sway bar and I am very impressed with the improvement in the ride and handling of my coach!

I ordered this steering stabilizer for our 2011 Winnebago Adventurer 32H. As always it was on my doorstep in just a few days.

Installation was pretty straightforward although I did have to call Roadmaster for clarification on the mounting location. I've included pictures that should be helpful for anyone else installing it. Particularly notice where the plate mounts on the leaf spring u-bolts.

The stabilizer works as described and I did notice a much better handling experience after installation. Glad I purchased it.

I installed the Steering Stabilizer and Rear Anti-Sway Bars at the same time.

I think the anti-sway bar is the most noticeable. When I'm turning out of my driveway where there is a dip as I go over the curb-cut, for example, the sway seems limited moreso than before. As for the steering stabilizer, I think the RV seems a little harder to turn at a slow speed, but I don't notice a lot of difference in it's "springing back to straight" as I'm going down the highway. Some of that may be due to the crown of the road. I'm anxious to try it on the interstate to see if it is better there.

Well, I drove on a smooth, level Interstate with a tailwind, and it handled like a dream.

Bottom line, the biggest difference in driving is the wind and the road surface. These components probably help a little, but I'm not sure it was worth the cost. I'd like to think the RV handles a little better, but I'm not sure that isn't because I want it to after spending the $$$ for these upgrades.

This is by far the best modification I've put onto my 37' Class A RV. The rig is so much easier to control on the road than the white-knuckle ride I got before installing it. Semi trucks can pass now and I hardly even notice. Cross winds are easy to navigate. I also put on front and rear stabilizer bars and the rig now drives more like a pickup truck than a large RV. All were easy to install except the rear stabilizer bar. Some of the OEM bolts were too tight for even my substantial pneumatic wrench to loosen up. We ended up having a heavy truck shop do it for us. Overall, I highly recommend these modifications for anyone driving a Class A. You won't believe what a difference it makes.

I could not be happier with the stabilizer products Ive added to my Class A motorhome. The results have been worth every dollar spent. Driving the rig is now a pleasure.

by:

As a many time customer I can only say the best things about the service and products from Etrailer. My steering stabilizer arrived promptly and was well packaged to prevent damage in shipping. Not yet having installed this on my Class A RV I cannot speak to its performance but based on products previously acquired from Etrailer I expect positive results.

Purchased with front and rear sway bars all together. This has made driving my rig easier and safer. Everything worked well and I would recommend both the items and the vendor.

I have installed the product, but have not driven the RV on a trip yet. Installation was easy, but instructions were minimal. Suggest providing more detailed instructions. Looking forward to tetesting on upcoming trip. Customer service was excellent. Quick response on questions and very helpful.

Before I added the Roadmaster Reflex steering stabilizer to my 31' class A Ford F53 chassis I was always on alert, making corrections, it wondered back and forth. After adding the Reflex stabilizer on more wondering, driving is now a pleasure. This is the first thing to add if your coach like to wonder.

by:

It works fine my hopes were for more improvement in the steering.

Alan

4/23/2023

OK but all the hype about these I feel they are over rated and over priced. It added weight to the steering and I really dont notice much of any improvement to the driving the rig. The extra effort it takes to steer the rig wears me down sooner. Wouldnt spend the money again. I would add just a steering damper with out the resistance spring the next time.

Purchasing and installing the Roadmaster Reflex steering stabilizer was without a doubt the best money we have spent on our Georgetown. The Installation was straightforward and relatively easy. The difference in the handling while driving makes me wonder why I didn't do this long ago.
I highly recommend this unit to anyone considering the capital outlay.

First off Thanks Etrailer for the best price! Your 110% save me some good cash. Fast delivery and great service. Put the stabilizer on today in 30 degree weather. Your video on how to install was right on. It took about 30 minutes to install, have not done a road trip yet. I am taking the RV in for a front end alignment so I wanted to get it install before I did the alignment. Tested the steering as it was sitting and the stabilizer brought the steering close to center, so I can see while driving it will help. Again thanks for great prices and services.

Great product to help white knuckles. With installing this product and front and read timbrens we do not feel sway when passing big rigs and higher winds. The service etrailer provides with the best price is unbeatable. Thanks for your products and the service you all provide.

by:

I chose to have a dealer to the installation because it required some test driving and adjustments. The return trip from the dealer was short, but the steering was definitely tighter, will retrun with feedback on handling after the next trip.

by:

Installation not terribly difficult. Driving considerably easier after adding this product. There is still room for improvement, so we will be looking at other solutions as well, but we are very pleased with this upgrade. I am particularly impressed with etrailers tech support and purchase experience. Highly recommended.

etrailer is always a great outfit to do business with. Judy called me personally to let me
know that they were out of stock but had a shipment coming in at the end of the week
I could call her back and cancel the order or she would ship me the order as soon as the shipment came in. She got the order shipped right away and it came in a couple of days.
Good people!

Product has been great and still working fine. Just what my vehicle needed. Great company to deal with.

The stabilizer definitely made driving the motorhome more easy and enjoyable removing the constant movements in the steering wheel while driving. It does make the turning of the wheel in a turn more stable but also recquiring more strength as the spring provides resistance to the turning. An improvement for sure. Also improves wind and truck passing sway.

Warren K.

Still glad we got this improvement for our class A. It makes a significant improvement especially on long drives. Worth the cost.

Hi Bob; since there is less stability at the rear of your 2013 Thor ACE 30.1 the rear anti-sway bar will have the greatest impact. The correct part for your motorhome is the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1139-146. It sounds like you plan on adding the front later so for that you will need the # RM-1139-148. The combination of the two will give you the best results.
