Hey everyone. How's it going Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500. I'll show you some of the features and show you how to install an engine air filter by PTC.This is going to be the top of our filter and has this nice diamond material on top that keeps it rigid and keeps it from moving or getting misshaped. On the backside, this is a pleated filter. It is a white media particulate, and this is going to filter any air coming into our engine.
It's always good to keep this clean. That way our engine doesn't have to work any harder than it already is. This is a very easy thing to do, and it should be done routinely. Personally, I do my engine air filter every oil change. Again, this is a very simple installation.
There's no reason to pay somebody to do this. I can go ahead and show you how easy it is now.This is our airbox. Our filters are encased in here. There's going to be four Phillips screws on each corner. We can go ahead and remove those.
Now, you do want to be careful since it is being screwed into plastic. You don't want to over-tighten it or strip out your screws. These last two can be kind of hard to get to. So I suggest loosening them up about 75% of the way and taking them out the rest by hand.With our screws removed, the top is now loose. We want to push in, kind of twist it out, making sure not to hit any of our radiator hoses.
We'll lift this cover up. As you can see, here's our filter. You can go ahead and lift it out of place.Here's our old filter. It is pretty clean. So it must've been changed recently, but you can see there is a little bit of dirt and debris on the filter. Another thing to notice is there is a big chunk of our silicone lining missing. So that means some air is escaping through the filter and not getting filtered correctly.Now we can go ahead and grab our new filter and slide it into our airbox. You do want to make sure to lift this cover out of the way, kind of have to work the filter in around this cross membrane here. And we can go ahead, get it all pushed in. We will take our cover, slide it back around this way, push it down, and reinstall our hardware in the reverse order that we took it apart. With everything re-installed, we're ready to hit the road.That's going to do it for a look at and installation of a PTC engine air filter on our 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500..

I clearly identified my vehicle as a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320. The air filters (3) which you sent me are the right width, but are an inch too long, and are therefore unusable. They cannot be made to fit in the air cleaner compartment. Not acceptable.
