Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit RP56001 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the Reese quick install custom outboard brackets for fifth wheel trailer hitches. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2011 and newer Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 model trucks. And on a custom part I always like to recommend that you go to our website and use our fit guide, putting your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this'll work for application. These insulation brackets will mount beneath your truck bed to provide attaching points to the fifth wheel base rails. These are custom outboard brackets which will mount to existing holes in your vehicle's frame, and they sit below the bed and outside your truck's frame. The result with this brackets is you get a much simpler installation process because most of the under bed components can be easily avoided because you're working outside the frame rails.

You'll also have easier access with your tools, more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain. They will minimize drilling and measuring and it cuts down installation time by more than half when compared with the universal bracket systems. These are outboard brackets, so they do require the use of the extended length base rails. We do sell those separately. It's part number RP30153. I happen to pull one of these, and these are what will sit in your truck bed, and they install to these outboard brackets and allow you to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch to these rails.

These rails are the extended length, so they're about five inches longer than the standard rails. This part will include everything shown here on the table. It includes the two outboard brackets, all the grade A mounting hardware, nice set of detailed instructions, and it even gives you the fish wire to pull the bolts through the holes in your frame. But that should do it for the review on the Reese quick install custom outboard brackets for fifth wheel trailer hitches.

These are great brackets because the angle flange faces away from the frame which makes it so much easeir to bolt to the bed rails in stead of having to fiddle with the nuts and bolts between the frame and the body which is a very tight space

by:

I would like to thanks all the staff i dealt with in ordering these brackets . They are well made and fit perfectly, very easy to install. Thanks Etrailer

by:

Parts arrived on time and in perfect condition! I will will buy from them again.

Upgraded my truck to a 2019 F250 Superduty. Received my new rail kit and mounting brackets. Fits perfect!

by:

Installation was good and very happy. Thank you

by:

This did not fit my truck right. Front brackets fit fine. The rear brackets lined up with all the holes but the chassis strap brackets are wrong. The spacers are also too short. Contacted e trailer. They checked inventory said their boxes were all wrong also. They contacted the mfg and i waited a month only to get a box of bolts and spacers and no straps. Had to have some fabbed locally. This is for my 2024 silverado 2500 custom.

by:

Instructions not clear enough/descriptive. Took 4 hours for my mechanic to install. would have been much simpler to loosen and lift box instead of taking everything apart as per instructions. Product seems good will know how it works after hitching up trailer.

by:

Five hours to install; which included a half hour searching for the key to the padlock on my spare. E-Trailer linked me to an installation video which really helped. I took my time and measured three times before I drilled the bed. Installation is a lot easier with someone to hold the bolts from the top. I fabricated mounting brackets on my last truck, but these were worth the money and I didn't have to drill the frame! Good design and straight-forward installation. My only issue was the video didn't show one bolt install that secured the driver's side rear bracket to the bottom of the frame. I was going off the video only and wasn't using the written instructions. Make sure you go step by step using both. Also, some parts are clearly for a different application so there will be a few parts left over. My experience with e-trailer was awesome.

by:

Very happy how soon the product I ordered was at my door step. 3 days after I ordered it. Put the base to my 5th wheel on my 2017 250 diesel sd took me around 5 hrs, would have been faster with 2 people. The base fit my husky 16k prefect when I done torquing all the bolts. Going to use this hitch to pull my 29.5 Durango EZ 1500.

by:

The costom bracket kit is of heavy steel, powder coated for protection, from your video it is going to be a lot easier to install and save time, alot less drilling and mounting of components, I am very satisfied with this product and cannot wait to install it on my 2013 Ford f150,will be pulling a 25 foot 5th wheel camper, thanks trailer for a great product

by:

I did not use this item in my institution and was returned because I had the bed replaced with a flat bed and they used the factory placed holes in their insulation. Designed new attachment plates and had them fabricated in a local machine shop, attached using 3 half inch harder bolts each and all is working well.

by:

Very easy to install. Measure twice, drill once. I used every piece of galvanic corrosion tape to protect the aluminum bed in the kit, probably could have used a little more. Even though I painted the edge of the holes after drilling, maybe some sort of insulator could be used there also.

by:

We ordered a bracket kit for our new 2017 F350. It was needed to install our Reese fifth wheel. which we use to pull our RV. Product was on back order by manufacturer, however Delisa at Etrailer diligently kept us very informed with updates & shipping status. My husband & son were able to install in a couple of hours. Looks great, outstanding craftsmanship & over exceeded our expectations! We would highly recommend!!!!!

by:

Still waiting for my package that was supposed to be here yesterday. It's been bouncing around 2 states clear on the other end of the country. I'll change my review if it ever shows up at my door.

by:

Fit good and easy to install

by:

They fit truck just like they were supposed too. Couple hr install with having to remove spare tire and heat shields to get access to bolt locations. Been supporting fifth wheel through thousands of miles. Thanks for helping me find right product for my truck!

by:

Fits great and works well on my 2005 Sierra 1500 ( 5 1/2 )short bed.

by: 08/23/2023

The item looks great but the brackets are both for the passenger side of the truck. I called and etrailer is shipping out another set. My only real complaint is delayed shipping and I am now running behind on my install.

by:

The product was fine but the service from the etrailer folks Is excellent. I had issues with my order (my fault) and they did everything they needed to do to get my issues resolved. Their service was very much appreciated!

by:

The kit arrived within a few days-very happy about that. very easy to install. the directions were clear and pictures good. I went to the trouble of using a sharpie to mark the part numbers on everything before I started just to keep to all straight.

I would note that on the 2017 F350 diesel the only problem bolt was on the driver side inline with the DEF tank. long skinny arms with flexible wrist is ideal (not what I have). I would also suggest taping the shims onto the outboard frame brackets to save yourself some frustrations. otherwise they are difficult to get and keep in place, especially on the driver side.

the two nuts that go inside the frame tube come on/with a nice handle although a bit light on the wield. here again save yourself and tape the shims on before you try to insert two things into that hole, align and fasten the bolt-by yourself. I used an extension with wobble head and socket to turn the bolt while holding the nut "assembly" in place.

I did remove the rear wheels and fender well liner-a must.

Lastly, great customer service on the phone. Pleasant and patient answering questions.

Installing 2017 5th wheel brackets and rails . Thankyou for your service in sending me the right parts for my F250 . Took about 4 hrs to install and all holes were perfect in the side brackets . Just had to drill for the rail. I’d recommend your service...

by:

Used it 3 times so far, does what it’s supposed to, the brackets fit the frame very good. Very happy with the setup.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Install Kit for 2013 GMC Sierra Long Bed
If you have the 1500 model, you'll need the # RP50064-58 install kit, or the # RP50066-58 for 2500 or 3500 models. I've linked you to install videos for either kit. If you don't already have a 7-way installed in the truck bed, you can install one using part # 41157.

For the Curt under bed brackets that will fit the Curt rails you already have and your 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD long bed I recommend # C16418. It also includes new mounting hardware (the original hardware should not be reused). I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.

  • Fifth Wheel Rails and Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed
The fifth wheel install bracket kit part # RP56001 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with a short bed. You should know that this is just the bracket kit. If you are in need of the rails as well you would instead want the part # RP56001-53. Since you have a short bed truck you will need a slider hitch like the part # C95DR so that you can make tight turns without cab interference.

I may have a solution for you, but the # RP56001 are not a confirmed fit on the 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. However you can use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP84FR, which is the outboard installation rail kit for your 2021 Silverado 2500. This would currently be the only option available for your 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 that provides you with outboard mounted rails.

There is a Quick-Install Custom Bracket kit (part # RP50082) confirmed to fir your 2010 Ford F-250 with a 6-3/4 foot bed, but the part # RP56001 is for GM trucks and would not work for you. You would need the part # RP50082 that I mentioned. I attached an install video. Since you have a short bed you will need a hitch with a slider to make 90 degree turns like the Pro Series Hitch and Slider part # RP30051.

  • 5th Wheel Installation Kit Brackets for a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
There are two different types of above the bed rails now available. To use your existing bed rails on the new truck you would need to use installation brackets # RP50066. The new longer rails, # RP30153, would require brackets # RP56001. So basically, you will want to go with bracket kit # RP50066. But you will also need hardware kit # RP58430 because you cannot reuse the old hardware to attach the rails to the new brackets. I have linked some instructions for you.
