Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the Deka quick connect battery cable split. So this is going to help us replace a damaged or corroded cable end on our battery with a new piece. It also has a little auxiliary connection if you have any kind of other connections to make to that battery terminal like a solenoid start or anything like that. Comes with a tool to adjust the set screw. So if we remove or slide back this cover, it's going to cover a connection here.
This is where we can slide in our larger gauge wire and tighten that down with that set screw. So you can see on the inside of the large space we can fit in our gauge wire up to two gauge and then once we have that in place, the end strip back and all that can tighten that all the way down. That screw will pretty much go all the way to the side of the cable so it can tighten down pretty far in there. So even if it's maybe not quite as big as a two gauge wire, should still work out just fine, but typically with your battery cables you're going to have a pretty thick cable. Once you have all that in place, you can slide that cover back over there. It's going to help keep out most water and debris from getting in there and causing any issues.
Crimp down your auxiliary wire going into the connection here, this is going to be a 10 gauge wire and then we'll have our terminal to go over our battery post. Just need a socket to tighten this nut down. It looks like it's about maybe eight millimeter, a small bolt there to tighten that down, it has a square head on the other side.So we can use this in just about any kind of application, whether it's around the house for your automotive applications, maybe for your truck or farm equipment and it should get you back to rolling with that new replaced battery table. As far as the total length on this, for the extension that we're going to get out of it. Going from the center of that, where our battery terminal would go to about the center of where our cables go on, it's about six and a half inches, maybe seven inches.
So it gives you a little bit of an extension on that cable wire. That does it for our look at the Deka quick connect battery cable split end. Thanks for watching and we'll see you next time.
