2009 Toyota Highlander Trailer Wire Harness Recommendation
Question:
I am looking at purchasing a wire harness for my 2012 Toyota Highlander. I noticed that Curt offers two different harnesses for my vehicle. Can you tell me what the difference is between Curt part # 56034 and Curt part # 56217? According to the Curt website either would work. What is the difference between the two? Is one a newer technology? Which one would you recommend? Thanks.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Actually the Curt harness part # C56217 that you referenced is the replacement for the older model part # 56034 that you also referenced that is no longer available.
With that being said the # C56217 would be the right choice for your 2009 Toyota Highlander and would work well. This harness does use a newer circuit board design than the older model converter boxes. This box uses surface mounted technology which is far superior to the through-hole style that older boxes used.
I attached installation instructions and a review video for you to check out also.
