Parts Needed To Add Electric Brakes Onto a 3,500LB Dexter Axle Without Brakes

Question:

Looking for a trailer brake. I have located the controler on your site but need the brakes. I have a Dexter 3500# torsion stub axles. The four hole plate is there but not being used. There is a 5 hole for a 15 rim, 30 Firestone destination AT Tires. I am looking at the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 10 - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs. Q is that for 1 side or both right and left hand? Q2 Are the drums included? Ths

The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-26-27 is the correct kit for your Dexter 3,500lb torsion axle studs. This includes both the left and right hand side brakes for one axle. It does not include a hub. I do recommend looking at the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-468-469 instead as the brakes adjust while you drive saving you on having to adjust the breaks as they wear. This also maintains a more constant brake feel with less adjustment required on the vehicle brake controller.

For Drums the Dexter Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly # 84546UC3-EZ will fit your spindle with either set of the brakes above. This hub has the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern which is the most commonly used size and you will need to order 2 for each of your trailer axles. If your wheels have a different bolt pattern please let me know.

If your trailer does not already have a 7-way setup for a trailer with electric brakes you will need 7-Way # H20044, Junction Box # 3430001-JBK and Breakaway Kit # 3802308. You will also need some Wire # 10-1-1 to run to the brake assemblies.
