Will Curt Ball Mount D-28 Work w/2 Inch Ball 63845 on 2005 Honda CR-V w/Curt Class III Trailer Hitch
Question:
Im looking to confirm that Ive made some proper selections here. Ive got a 2005 Honda CR-V with a Curt 2inch #13535 hitch installed great product, by the way. Im going to need to pull a small single-axle trailer, but at this point I dont know the GTW Im assuming hoping that itll be well under 2,000 lbs. I have a hitch height of 14-5/8inch and the coupler height appears to be about 18,inch so if I understand correctly I need a ball mount with a 4inch rise. The clearance from the hitch pin hole to the outside of the spare is about 12. I was looking at the Curt D-28 ball mount and the #63845 2inch ball. Will this combination work for me safely? I also already have a #63232 Anti-Rattle Hitch Receiver Lock that I use for a basket carrier, and I plan to use with this as well. Is there anything else I need or am missing? Thanks in advance!

The first thing you are going to want to look at is the gross trailer weight capacity of your 2005 Honda CR-V. It has been our experience that the vehicle is only rated for 1,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 100 to 150 pounds tongue weight. Check the owners manual to confirm the capacities of the vehicle.
The ball mount # D-28 and 2 inch ball # 63845 will work just fine together and with the Curt trailer hitch # 13535 you have on your CR-V. The anti-rattle device and lock you already have, # 63232, will also work with the hitch and ball mount.
You have a good handle on what you will need so the only thing left is to make sure the trailer you tow is within the capacities of the vehicle. If you do not already have a trailer wiring harness on the CR-V you can add one using # 118336.
