Recommended Trailer Brake Type For Adding Brakes Onto a Boat Trailer
Question:
Hello I have a boat with its trailer, Im thinking of installing some brakes, i used the search engine in your page and found some drum electric brakes that fit the boat trailer criteria, can they be submerged while still powered? Is any drawback in using this type of brakes for my boat? Thanks

When submerging a boat trailer to launch/retrieve a boat the trailer electrical wiring should be disconnected to prevent wiring shorts. This will prevent electrical brakes from operating while submerged. With boat trailers I recommend installing a full stainless steel brake kit like the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35S. If you can provide me with some more information about your boat trailer I can help you find the correct parts for your trailer. I will need to know the axle size under your trailer. If you are unsure I will need the bearing and seal sizes used on your current hub to find the correct components.
