Do 10 Inch Kodiak Stainless Steel Disc Brakes Work With Oil Bath Hubs
Question:
My ski boat rides on an EZ-Loader dual axle trailer with oil bath hubs. My disc brakes are sticking and I’m hoping to upgrade to something that might last a little longer in my salt water environment. I believe that I currently have non-integral 10” disc brakes. I’m thinking they are made by UFP and are probably model DP-35. I see that you have some stainless steel Kodiak brakes. Will the bracket work with my current axle? Can I keep my current oil bath hubs with 5 lug nuts? Is this the best for salt water? K2R35DS Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes, you can keep your oil bath hubs and use the Kodiak disc brakes; you mentioned a salt water environment and stainless steel brakes so you have two options, with the all-stainless steel being the best in terms of corrosion resistance, as you can see by the salt spray ratings of each:
- 300- to 400-Hour Salt-Spray Rating: Dacromet and Stainless Steel: Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35DS
- 1,000-Hour Salt-Spray Rating: Stainless Steel: Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35S
In order to be sure these fit, you do need to make sure you have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, and if you aren't sure you can check out the help article I attached on how to determine your bolt pattern. You also need to have a 4-bolt brake mounting flange though that seems highly likely considering you are simply replacing your previous disc brakes.
I have added links to a couple video reviews for you to check out as well.
