For your 2022 Chevrolet Traverse, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver, # e56YR. This is a matte black finished Class III hitch with a spec rating of 5,000 lbs. for max GTW and 750 lbs. tongue weight, but always refer to your vehicle specific owners manual for the vehicles max specs for towing. It is a custom fit bolt-on model that comes with all needed hardware and lifetime technical support from the experts at etrailer. Made in USA.
You will need a ball mount, such as the etrailer, # EBMK4 for Class III hitches with a 2" receiver. This has a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. Please note the hyperlink below that will take you help articles on how to measure for trailer hitch drop.
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118761 is best option for flat four wiring. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located just beneath your vehicle, on the driver's side. It connects quickly and easily with no cutting or splicing of wires and provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. I have linked below to a video of this being installed on a 2021 model Chevy Traverse.
If you are wanting to tow a trailer with a brake axle, you will want the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector, # 118287. This provides a 7-way, blade-style trailer connector and needed brake output for a brake controller. It also has a reverse circuit for backup lights on your trailer and a charge line to trickle charge a campers battery while driving down the road or power a campers electric jack.
For a brake controller, if needed, I suggest the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195. This is the best selling, most proven option. This is a proportional brake controller that automatically levels when mounted within a 360-degree vertical range. This self-leveling feature of the P3 ensures that the brake controller continues to function even as you drive up steep hills or through the mountains.
I do suggest using dielectric grease for all electrical connectors. We have a 2 oz. tube here, # 11755 if needed.
Please note the product review and installation videos below for the products listed above.
