Recommended Receiver Hitch For 2018 Ford Fusion Titanium

Question:

Looking to buy a hitch for my 2018 Ford Fusion. It is the Titanium model. I like the looks of the Curt the best, that hitch requires stabilizing for carriers anything non-wheeled. I want to avoid using straps if possible. What options do I have. Thank you

I do have a few options for your 2018 Ford Fusion Titanium. The Curt Hitch # C12091 does in fact require the Curt Stabilizing Strap # 18050 for any non-wheeled carriers. If that is a concern to you, I do have two other options.

The Draw-Tite Sportframe Hitch # 24897 (Class 1) would work well and would not require a stability strap with non-wheeled carriers. This hitch has a maximum tongue weight of 200lbs and towing capacity of 2000lbs, which is the max towing capacity of your 2018 Ford Fusion Titanium. The only downside is that it comes with a 1 1/4" hitch, which does not offer quite as many carrier options as a 2" hitch. You could then install a 1 1/4" to 2" adapter # HTAD, but then the maximum tongue weight would be cut down 50%, resulting in a maximum tongue weight of only 100lbs.

The other option would be the EcoHitch Hidden Hitch # 306-X7239 (Class 3). This also would not require a stability strap. This hitch has a maximum tongue weight of 350lbs and a towing capacity of 3500lbs, which is more than enough for the towing capacity of your vehicle. It is 2", which would make it easier to find accessories and carriers, since the majority of the products available are for 2" hitches.

I recommend going with the EcoHitch # 306-X7239. This would give you more than enough towing capacity, and also plenty of options when it comes to racks and other vehicle add-ons. I have attached a demonstration video.
