Does Adapter to go From 7-Way on Tow Vehicle to Trailer 4-Way Have 12 Volt Power

Question:

Hi, I have a 2012 Silverado with a factory 7 pin plug, I just purchased a 2018 American hauler 12 foot cargo trailer with no brakes, I believe I need a 7 to 4 adapter to run the turn signals, 4 ways, brake and marker lights, my concern is the trailer has a 12 volt light inside, will the 12 volt light work with the basic 7 t0 4 adapter ? looking at the plug on the 7 way side I only see 4 blades that match up for the lights, I see no reference for 12 volt. Please advise.

An adapter to go from a 7-way on your tow vehicle to a trailer 4-way, the Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Way Connector Adapter # PK12716 or Hopkins 7 Pole to 4 Pole Adapter with Tester and Cover # 47345 does not have a 12 volt connection.

If the trailer has just a 4-way plug, it will not power the a 12 volt light from that plug as 4-ways are only for ground, turn signals, and tail lights. What you can do instead is run the power wire to a new 7-way for the trailer side, and use that instead, such as the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 4' Long # H20043, 6' Long # H20044, or 8' Long # H20046.
