Trailer Rim and Tire Recommendation for a Boat Trailer

Question:

I am looking at this tire/wheel combo as an easy way to replace my worn out Duro tires on my boat trailer which have preformed well at speeds of 70MPH. There are so many makes that it is confusing as to which tire will be the safest and smoothest ride. Would I be making a good decision with this combo or do you recommend another tire?

To ensure proper compatibility I would go with the same size tire and rim that you currently have on your boat trailer. If you have a ST205/75R14 now then the Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14 inch Galvanized Wheel # AM32156 should work well for you.

Galvanized wheels resist corrosion well and radial trailer tires provide excellent tire wear and performance so the # AM32156 would work well for you in that regard. The # AM32156 is a load range C tire that can handle 1,925 pounds at 60 psi You will need to determine if this is enough capacity. Also, you should always inflate trailer tires to their max psi listed to ensure proper performance and tire wear.

Unless otherwise rated all trailer tires are only rated at going 65 miles per hour. Due to the thicker sidewall of trailer tires heat will build up if you go faster than that which could cause failure.

Check out the FAQ article I attached on trailer tires.
