Comparing etrailer and Dexter Axle 12" Electric Brake Kits
Question:
Needing 12 electric brakes for a 14k# trailer. Are the Dexter brakes worth the money at twice the cost or are other brands just as good? Thanks in advance,

Yes and no. The first thing to note is that the etrailer brake kit you were looking at is part # AKEBRK-6 and is just a regular brake kit while the Dexter Axle kit you were looking at is part # 23-464-465 which is their Nev-R-Adjust kit that adjusts automatically.
The etrailer equivalent is part # AKEBRK-7-SA which definitely costs more than the standard brake kit, but it's still a little ways away from the Dexter Axle set.
With that being said, Dexter Axle is a great company who has proven that their products are top notch, plus they are able to say that their brake kits are made in the USA. With an excellent brake kit usually comes a hefty price tag just because they are at the top. The etrailer brake kits have been proving themselves and people love them, you just don't get the name of Dexter Axle on them and knowing they are made in the USA.
In summary, if you aren't brand loyal or looking to purchase something made in the USA then you will be extremely happy with the etrailer kit. If you're looking for a brand name that is known by almost everyone and/or you really want to buy USA made products then Dexter Axle is the kit for you.
