The Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 That you referenced would be a great choice for a brake controller for your 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It will work for you, but you will need a few more components depending on the setup of your vehicle.
If you have a factory 7-way at the rear of your vehicle you will also need a Wiring Kit # 5506 to power the brake controller. The white wire from the # 90885 will be the ground wire that will run to the negative side of the battery and the black wire will run to the positive side of the battery through the included circuit breaker. The blue wire of the controller will run to the brake output circuit of the 7-way that is on your vehicle. The red wire will run to the stoplight circuit behind your brake controller. You will want to tap into the circuit that sees voltage when the brake is applied and none when the brakes are not being applied.
Check out the picture I attached that shows a wiring diagram of how the controller will install.
Now if you do not have a 7-way at the rear of your vehicle you are going to need a Brake Controller Installation Kit # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions for this product for you to check out also.
