The use of tire chains on your 2012 Ram 1500 with 275/60-20 tires is prohibited from the manufacturer due to limited clearance between the wheel well and tire however, in most cases the clearance is indeed limited but not so much so that tire chains cannot be used. Manufacturers typically recommend not to use tire chains as this exempts them from liability claims but since certain states and conditions often require them by law, the choice whether or not to use them will ultimately be up to you.
For a low profile tire chain that work for most vehicles with limited wheel well clearance, the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC2533 are only 5.5 mm thick and will work with your 275/60-20 tires. The diamond pattern chains offer excellent traction in both snow/ice and the color-coded sections of the chain makes installation easy. I have attached a review video of these chains for you as well.
Although the owner's manual for your vehicle states that tire chains are prohibited, as long as they do not state not to use tire cables then the Glacier V-Trac Cable Snow Tire Chains part # PW3029C are another great option for your 275/60-20 tires and will not leave you to worry about voiding any warranty. These cables optionally come with # PW97 rubber tensioners which ensures the cables have a snug and secure fit on your tires.
