Tire Chains for a 2013 Ford F-150 with 275/55-20 Tires
Question:
I have a 2013 F-150 FX4 Crew Cab with a 6.5foot bed with new 275/55r20 B.F. Goodrich KO2 tires. Im heading back through snow country and the manual says not to use because it might chip the aluminum rims, being an S Class. Understand I was looking at the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern Item # TC2533. When I tried another set of chains on that werent size for the tires those chains the inner rings came very close to the shocks. Do the Item # TC2533 fit better? Whats your opinion on the these for the vehicle I have? Im ready to order I just dont want get them only to have the same issue. Thanks for your assistance.

According to the owner's manual for your 2013 Ford F-150, tire chains cannot be used on models with 274/55-20 tires due to the limited clearance between the tires and vehicle components. The use of tire chains on aluminum wheels is not recommended but is also not prohibited. You will just need to be aware that they may cause chips to the wheels. All tire chains installed on this vehicle must also be class S compliant.
With that being said, the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC2533 will fit the 274/55-20 tires on your truck but the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC2327 would be a better fit as they are more specially designed for larger tires. As far as clearance between the tires and shock absorbers, the above tire chains have a link thickness of 3.7mm and will be one of the smallest we have therefore will be your best option for clearance purposes.
