Does a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Short Bed Need a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch
Question:
1. Ive got a 2022 Chevy 3500 HD on order. 2. I presently have a 2500HD that has a standard BandW companion NON-slider and tow a Cougar 331mks 36foot and have no issue with trailer front to cab clearances in backing/turning. 3. I have a family member that has the BandW slider hitch and in 3 years and many miles has never had to use the slider function towing a 40+foot Solitude. 4. I need to purchase a new 5th wheel hitch, the truck with have the OEM package installed. I like BandW and considering BWRVK3775. The Question: Do I need a slider or will a non-slider work? If a non slider will work which BandW would you suggest. If a slider is required I will purchase the 3775. Thanks

It sounds like the 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 you are getting has the short bed. In that case, yes, you definitely want the sliding 5th wheel hitch for clearance. The good news is you will not need to purchase the entire B&W Companion # BWRVK3775.
Since you already have a Companion you will only need the base since you can use the current hitch head. The Replacement Slider Base for B&W Companion Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 20,000 lbs # BWRVB3775 is the correct part.
If by chance you are getting the long bed, you would want the fixed hitch instead. You can still do the same thing and just get the correct base which would be the # BWRVB3710.
I have attached some review videos for your reference.

When I was at Quartzite, I talked to a B&W rep. He said specifically to not get the slider for the new style GM trucks with a short bed. He said that GM moved the pucks back in the new style to make the slider not needed, and with the slider, the rear tailgate will possibly get damaged… Any opinion on this? I’m looking at a Reese gooseneck for my 2022 Chevy set-up.
