What is Tongue Weight Range for Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution C17500
Question:
I just purchased a Curt TrueTrack weight distribution hitch from e-trailer.com. Rated tongue weight 1000lb and Trailer weight 10,000 lbs. My maximum tongue weight is 650 to 750 lbs and the trailer runs 5500 to 5750 lbs. Did I overbuy or should I expect this hitch system to perform OK? Thanks

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
The Curt TruTrack part # C17500 that you referenced has a pretty limited tongue weight range at 800-1,000 lbs so you would ideally want to come in at 900 lbs if you wanted to be in it's sweet spot. If you happen to have some weight behind the rear axle of your vehicle or some additional weight in the trailer this still could work well for you.
