Recommended Snow Chains For 2015 Subaru Forester With 225/60R17 Tires
Question:
Hi, I have a 2015 Subaru Forester 225/60 R17. It looks like the low profile chains by Thule are acceptable, however wondering how many chains I need. Ive read the front tires are ok on all 4wd vehicles, however many Subaru enthusiasts state this can ruin the drive train because of the way the awd works. Please let me know how many chains I need and the max recommended speed with those chains. Thanks

I looked up the owners manual for your 2015 Subaru Forester, and it states that class S chains are acceptible and to use them on the front wheels only.
The Thule Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - CB12 - Size 104 # TH01221104, are class S compatible and require 12 mm of internal clearance. These are great chains that will work well on your vehicle. They are easy to install and are a high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel.
The Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XG12 Pro - Size 240 # TH01594240, require 12mm internal clearance and offer very good traction as well. They are easy to install as well after the initial install.
The recommended speed is 30 mph.
