Class 3 Hitch Compatibility Between 2002 Ford Explorer and 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
Question:
Will the Class 3 hitches advertised for the 2002 Ford Explorer also fit the Sport-Trac?

Expert Reply:
We offer Class III hitches for both the Ford Explorer and the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, but unfortunately the Class III hitches advertised for the Ford Explorer are not compatible for the Sport Trac.
However, we offer two Class III hitches that will fit a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The Curt Class III Round Tube Hitch # 13407 and the Draw-Tite Max Frame Round Tube Hitch # 75112. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Class III - 2" # 13407.This hitch is made in the USA and is a little more cost effective than the Draw-Tite hitch.
If you are planning on towing a trailer with your 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, I would also recommend wiring harness kit # 118344, Convert-A-Ball Adjustable-Height Ball Mount # TK5007, and a Tow Ready 2" ball # 63845.
I attached a couple of help articles in choosing the correct ball mount, ball and tips on towing a trailer.
I have attached a video on installing the Curt hitch on a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
