Trailer Hitch for a 2010 Jayco Eagle 5th Wheel Trailer to Hold a Generator

Question:

My camper has IBEAMS which are 71 inches apart. I am interested in putting in a heavy duty hitch for carry a 130lb generator. I want to have it welded on. My 5th wheel has a built in sliding bike rack with a limit of 250 lbs, but isnt good for a generator carriage. Hopefully you have seen the setup on this model 5th wheel camper. What do you suggest I do so I can place a heavy duty steel carriage on back of camper with hitch. Thanks

Ultra-Fab trailer hitch # UF35-946403 is a great option for you. It does weld onto the trailer frame and fits frame widths up to 77 inches. Welding should be done by a qualified professional. The hitch is rated for 350 pounds tongue weight so it can handle the generator with ease.

Another option is the Curt hitch # 13703. If has a bit of a different design than the Ultra-Fab hitch but does fit I-Beam frames as well. With this hitch though Curt requires the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050, for any non-trailer load.

I have also included a link to the heavy duty cargo carriers that we have if you do not already have one you plan on using to hold the generator.
