We bought this to tow our 3,000 lbs. boat with our Subaru Ascent with a 5,000 lbs. towing capacity. With the OEM ball mount, we could really feel every jolt and jiggle from hard stops, going over bumps in the road, and trailering down dirt roads.

However, the dual cushion ball has really improved our trailing experience. Once we get up to speed, we hardly notice we are towing our boat. It's also great because some of the lakes we visit are down dirt roads, and the cushion makes this a much more pleasant experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone towing a boat or larger trailer with a SUV as it maintains that comfortable ride and the jostling of the trailer is much less noticeable.

Rusted within 30 days. The manufacturer refused to warranty the product. I have continued to use it, but it has required some serious rust mitigation and is a flawed product.

To be honest with these type of ball mounts, rust would not be covered under warranty. I recommend keeping a rust resistant spray on hand to touch up the ball mount as rust will be inevitable given outside exposure.

I received my order in a timely manner. Very pleased with the quality.

I have made two trips from Boston, MA, to Columbus, Ohio. Pulling my trailer with my Harley Davidson on it. I have been very pleased with the performance.

A year has passed with my Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount and I have nothing but praise for this mount. Once you find the correct height to have a perfectly level trailer there's no need to adjust. The beauty lies in the cushioning! Towing a Yamaha AR190 (3200lb boat and trailer combo) is silent. Even over the bumpiest pavement the tow is smooth. There is no harsh slamming when braking or taking off from the boat ramp. I don't know why everyone isn't running one of these, I wouldn't run any other hitch mount PERIOD! If you're on the fence, get off and buy one, you will NOT regret it!

Ive been using this mount since the summer of 2015 and love it. The bare steel inside is rusting and turning orange, but the mount works the same as I did day 1.

I needed an adjustable drop hitch to pull my new 13 foot Scamp camper with my F150 Raptor and this hitch does the job. As always with etrailer you get great service and the help videos are the best. Ordering from etrailer beats the heck out of driving all over town trying to find what you need and the fast and free shipping isn't bad either.

Still a Great Hitch, I traded trucks but did not have to trade hitches, very happy with it.

by:

This hitch is superior to most adjustables in that it leaves more clearance underneath than most competitive brands (less dragging) when in the "drop" position. It completely solved the problem (dragging, gouging roadway in dips, etc.) when towing with my motorhome with a high hitch receiver. Also, it's considerably heavier duty than appears in the illustrations.

by:

Best trailer hitch I ever had. Takes away all the noise that is usually associated with ball hitches and makes you forget you are even towing.

by:

All is good but for two things. I got a lot of clucking towing my travel trailer around town. The last hole ,furthest away from ball end,I think was drilled of center. The pin that was supplied would not pass. Used pin from another hitch company, that worked.

by:

I use this mount to allow for clearance of my boat windshield under my 7' garage door. When I'm towing I raise it to level, then I drop to the lowest point when landing it in the garage. It's also really quiet with the cushioned mounts. The paint doesn't really hold up to the raising and lowering, but this would be way more expensive in stainless. Overall great product. And it is made in the USA which is rare.

by:

I've had the cushioned draw bar on my Silverados for many years and love them. Brian from etrailer had this latest version to me 2 days after I ordered it, that was extremely fast . Thanks Brian ! This is for for my up coming 700 mile trip up North pulling a trailer with my sons new Side by side ATV. This trip should be a breeze with this new hitch. We haven't put the hitch on yet , but I don't forsee any problems
thanks etrailer for you're help !

by:

Good product. Very substantial (heavy) and functions as advertised. Etrailer has great information on it which helped me make an informed decision. The vertical receiver part could have a built in anti-rattle device which would make it even better with the cushioning. It could have a set screw or bolt or be rubber lined or something.
Overall great product and service.

by:

Well built, quality welds, adjustability great for using this hitch on our truck car, and side by side.

by:

Two problems with this item. First, if you have any play between your receiver and the shank of this mount, you can't use most solutions to stop that rattle as the shank is solid. Next, there's also movement between the vertical pipe and the horizontal shank, enough that there is noise while towing, something I wouldn't have expected from a cushioned mount. I wound up swapping this with the cheaper 80412 that doesn't have these issues.

by:

Arrived in 2 and a half days and I live in Hawaii!
eTrailer staff were courteous and professional.
Hitch mount I purchased is well built and exceeded my expectations.

by:

Like the fact that I can move this hitch from my car to the wifes and set the hight to tow the trailer level.

by:

This is a very robust product. I am sure it would carry a heavy class III trailer load with ease.

by:

four stars because I have not used it yet,and not sure when I will. Not going to take the new truck out in the salt. It looks well made and has a wide range of settings, the reason I bought it. My experience with etrailer was easy ordering and fast delivery.

by:

The connection Between vertical and horizontal sections Does not allow the pin to be placed easily I had to use a hammer to force the pin IN place I hope after it gets some use it loosens up

by:

This product work very well towing my boat. Less jerking back and forth. Much smooth ride.

by:

Great adjustable hitch! Very easy to adjust and very sturdy (plus very heavy!).

by:

Solid built. Fully adjustable. Great pr oduct!

by:

It is a great produvt and takes all of the noise away. No more clanging and banging as before without the isolation

by:

Been burnt before with online ordering, first time in a couple years Everything went smooth, appreciated having the status of the order updated all the way to delivery

by:

  • Is There a Shock Absorbing Ball Mount That Can Be Used With Sway Control
I do have an option for you but there would be no way to attach a sway control mount to the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount part # 325-GH-12001. Instead, I recommend the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount part # CAB-UM which should then be able to used with the Reese Sway-Control Bracket part # RP26003.

  • Minimum Rise for Convert-A-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount CAB-UM
The minimum rise for adjustable ball mount # CAB-UM is approximately 2-1/2 inches. But unless you tow multiple trailers and need the adjustability of this ball mount I recommend a fixed ball mount with between 2 and 3 inches of rise. Covert-A-Ball has # AMSC4HD or # AMSC4, both with a 2-3/4 inch rise, if you want a cushioned ball mount. If the ball mount does not have to be cushioned we have # C45155 which comes with a 2 inch ball installed and with a 2-1/4 inch rise. The ball is not...

  • Can The Curt RockerBall Be Used With Convert-A-Ball Shock Absorbing Ball Mount?
I personally spoke to Curt who informed me their Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 should not be used with the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mounts including # CAB-UM. For the best experience I recommend using a ball mount with the correct amount of drop with the RockerBall and a anti-rattle. This will eliminate the play between the ball mount and your receiver allowing the RockerBall to absorb the trailer shock. We have a couple kits which have all the parts listed below otherwise...

  • Will a Cushioned Ball Mount # AMSC2 Benefit a 2000-lb Utility Trailer
Cushioned ball mounts like the Convert-A-Ball # AMSC2 are rated for trailer weights up to 10,000-lbs but they will still provide a benefit when used with lighter and smaller utility trailers like your 2000-lb-er. These use a polyurethane insert that acts like a spring to reduce shock, bounce and vibration. Since your trailer weight is about 2000-lbs you could use the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount # CAB-UM rated for up to 5000-lbs. This adjustable cushioned ball mount...

As long as your 2011 GMC Terrain has the standard size wheel and tire combination on it, the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount, item # AMSC2, would be the most versatile ball mount that is not adjustable. We do carry many different styles of adjustable ball mounts that may be a better choice if you tow several different height trailers, see link. Even in the lowest setting I don't think you'll have issues as it only sits about 6-7/8 inches from the tube. The Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set, item # 906B, would give you the ability to change out balls just as quickly as changing out the adjustable ball mount and would be much easier to store in the vehicle. I do have a great solution for you, however the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned Adjustable Ball Mount # CAB-UM that you referenced cannot be used with a weight distribution system, in large part because of its adjustment hole spacing.
